Sasquatch settings for PT 4wd?

I just completed the M190 to M210 front diff conversion and the M210 lacks the intermediate shaft disconnect found on the M190. As such, I now have an empty connector for the disconnect motor and am getting a 4wd error upon starting the engine, and when I attempt to shift the transfer case it just blinks and does nothing.

I have a Big Bend with the part-time transfer case.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Aside from the error you are getting now, how did the rest of the install go? Do you have a write up with pictures? Several of us are planning this, and unfortunately you are the guinea pig.

I plan to eventually do it when I go to 4.88s or when I grenade the M190, whichever comes first.

For some reason the part time big Bend and obx with 4.27s do not have disconnect. All other part times have diconnect. So however that one does it should work for you, probably software???

It's definitely software, but it doesn't like the various combinations I've tried.

The parts swapping is child's play if you have any mechanical aptitude at all and the right sockets for all the bigger bolts & axle nut. Simple R&R job that one man can do in the driveway with a little strategic help from the Mrs..

That's what I'm hoping. I've removed/replaced the front diff on my Tacoma and hope this is as easy. Of course, I replaced it with the same axle, so didn't have to worry about how a different one would fit/bolt in. I broke a lot of stuff as a child though...

The spindle nut is the biggie on the front end. I think the rest max out at 22mm.

The lower shock bolts on the back are the other over-sized ones iirc (or it might be the lower link bolts). Whichever they are, they're bloody eff'n tight from the factory. Big impact or cheater bar territory. I used my floor jack against my 24" 1/2" ratchet on one of them. Oof!

Maybe a forscan fix? Might have to find where the disconnect motor status bit is used in the error subroutine (if such s thing exists) and throw an always false bit in front of it to bypass.

There's multiple places where it has options like "part time 4wd" or "full time 4wd" or "AWD"... I just don't see a plain English option for that front axle.

How many wires go to the front disconnect?
Maybe you could make a disconnect simulator with some relays.

Download a free program called AsBuiltExplorer. Then go to the Motorcraft link and download the STOCK AsBuilt files for a SAS Bronco and yours. Find a VIN for the SAS by asking here or searching dealers. You want the same engine / trans / trim as your where only SAS was added.

I can almost guarantee it will NOT be a "plain English" drop down or option.

It will be hex code at a certain address / addresses for certain modules.

It's not hard.

I would scan it for viruses during download - but I downloaded QUITE a while ago and used it often.

You can directly compare to .AB (AsBuilt) files from two different vehicles.

So (1) has BB and SAS the other BB and no SAS. You can SEE the hex code changes under each module address.

I know everyone likes the drop down menus and "plain english" but there have been times I've seen where these can mess stuff up.

I used this program to add Sync 3 in multiple S550 Mustangs that had base systems. I was able to find a VIN that had Sync 3 and the same options as the car I was swapping it into. Also did it with a couple of salvage cars where guys I knew bought them cheap at auction (flood cars for example) and they swapped used modules from another model (that could have had multiple different options) and we'd just compare the VIN As Built for the donor vs the car it was going into.

You can even export the data into Excel to make it easier to read / compare.

To get the AsBuilt for pretty much any Ford you have the VIN for, go to:

It can be tedious, but it costs NOTHING but some time and it will save you a ton of time troubleshooting crap in the end.

You can then subscribe to the SAME data that Ford Dealer techs users for 72 hours for $21. Pop in the VIN, you get a full OASIS report, ALL TSB and SSMs and ALL service manual info AND you get "print to PDF" access.

That's any 1994 and up Ford vehicle - FULL Service manual access. Plus you can directly pull AsBuilt Data (if you have the VIN) and see recall history etc etc.

I'm not able to do the leg work on the hex code this week, but do have my laptop and adapter with me.

I found this guy for a possible "donor" vin. The ad said Big Bend Advanced w Sasquatch.

Just a follow up on this thread:

My emails with Ford Techline have gone unanswered for months, and having the FAD hanging under the truck has proven problematic now that we're in the snowy season (I'm sure it's full of water and icing up).

I broke down and ordered the Ford tuner, which should be here tomorrow barring blizzard delays.

With any luck the updated shift programming will result in better fuel economy, but that might be a pipe dream.

Got the ProCal 4 today and it asks if you upgraded the FDU when downloading your tune.

After installing the tune and disconnecting the FAD there were no CELs, but the 4wd still didn't work until relearning the AWD - which is a function directly via the ProCal 4.
