Am I correct that there should be some kind of seal? Didn't notice it when the guy finished. Contacted Safelite support today and was told it's a warranty issue and I need to open a ticket with that department.

Does anyone know if they messed up or if this is just how they do it? Plus it's off-center. The gap is way bigger on the passenger side.

No external seal, but the gaps are ridiculous. OEM windshield is pretty tight all the way around.

I just had mine done at Safelite as well with aftermarket glass. From talking to the tech, it is a urethane seal between back of windshield and the body. Nothing external to fill the gap. Are you getting any leaks? Regardless, I would have them warranty work it due to due to being off-centered before you get a chip or crack. After that, they won't do warranty work anymore unless you are willing to pay to replace the glass.
Such a shame...Safelite used to be top notch.

Appreciate all the responses and photos. I've contacted Safelite and will see what they say about correcting it since it's clearly a bad install job.

Not sure if it's a glare from a light source or a scratch. I suggest inspecting the windshield frame for paint damage.

Safelite in my area has been a scam the last 2 times I’ve used them. Will not use them again

Yeah I don’t go back to Safelite any more either since they painted one of my seats with RTV

And Safelite in my area did an excellent job replacing the windshield on my Bronco, so they're not all the same.

They also replaced the windshield on my Escape and did a great job there too.

It's good to know if if a Safelite franchise in a particular area is good or bad, but clearly the quality isn't the same across the entire nation.

Sloppy workmanship. As others have mentioned, have Safelight fill out a ticket and get them to redo it so at least the glass is centered. I'd request they make sure to send a different technician than the one who did the first install.

Unfortunately glass companies are experiencing the same challenge as other service companies getting good qualified workers. Not all Safelight stores are bad. It depends on the individual stores and their management.

I've had two windshields replaced on two separate Lincolns. One was done by the oldest local glass company in their shop. The other by Safelight in my driveway. Safelight actually did a better and cleaner job.

So far I haven't replaced the Bronco windshield. I do have a small crack which I filled with one of those DIY kits. I'm not going to replace unless it gets worse.

I've used them a few times for windshields and a side window, always a good job. but if your gaps are off get them out there to re-do it, shouldn't be an issue.

Safelite did a great job for me. If you did not get an OEM windshield take it back and demand OEM.
