Running the wiring for A-Pillar ditch lights

I did a few searches but it did not return exactly what I was looking for. So.....
I am not concerned about connecting to the upfitter switches but was wanting to see how many of you ran the wiring harness from the ditch lights to under the hoot for the final connections. Pictures would be great. Even in Crayon!!! I have two sets of wires to run since I have double lights mounted.

I ran mine through the weatherstripping at the back of the hood…

My ditch lights came with a nice waterproof connector. Way too big to thread through the tiny cowl slot. Easy fix: remove the larger screw at the cowling accessory mount location, only on the side involved. Use a plastic panel remover tool to pry up the plastic cowl piece. Only pry/warp it enough to clear the connector. The connector will appear near the hood hinge inside the engine compartment. May take a couple of tries to get it in the right space. When routing the connector/cable be sure to secure it away from the hinge bits so it doesn’t get crushed when the hood is closed. Lower the cowl back into place being careful that its tabs on the forward edge go back into their slots. Replace the screw and repeat for the other side. Use some of the woven cable cover strips and some cloth cable wrap for a professional look.

That works well if using a connector-less cable. But then you have to mess with more solder/crimp joints. My lights came with an excellent harness and waterproof connectors. It included a relay and remote switch pod. The current draw was well within Upfitter 3 capabilities, so I just cut the wires before the relay. BTW my MY2025 has a larger wire for Switch 1, it is also yellow/red rather than its predecessor’s yellow. Some other color changes too.

Ouch! Do a search on here. There are a couple of ways to run the wiring without notching or drilling the cowl.

Just thinking a small notch at the cowl seam would do.

Some pull up the cowl and run it past the weather stripping and replace the cowl.

It might be worth you time to go to some meets and see how others have routed their wires.

Yup just did that with mine. Hope it doesn’t leak. Everything popped back into place and looks good. But water finds any way to get in.

I hated the idea of popping my hood and seeing more wires in there, so I separated the cowl and tucked my ditch light wires inside all the way across, then snapped the cowl pieces back together. Pretty simple and a clean looking install.

I just did mine yesterday. I used the SPV Performance kit. It came with the connectors unpinned so it was easy to fish the harness from engine compartment to the bottom of the windshield. Assembled the connector and plugged them in. I also used cloth cover over the harness.
