2024 Wildtrak. 14k miles.

Did my 3rd oil change a few weeks ago. The first 2 were done at a buddy's shop and I confirmed that they didn't do the Priming process after the changes were done. Amsoil used. No issues.

I finally had some free time the other day I changed it myself. No issues. I had seen a YT vid where the guy did the priming afterwards so I thought I'd do it. No issues. Ever since then the Bronco tranny is not the same. In particular, the upshifts are rough and sometimes it feels like it's holding in the gears for too long instead of downshifting and "bogging" the tranny.

No codes/lights. Nothing else was touched. Nothing out of place.

Even if the priming process somehow reset the tranny's learning process, I've driven several hundred miles since and it should have re-learned by now. Make it make sense.

Any ideas?

Check your oil level, iirc this happens on overfill.

You changed your oil...then your transmission started shifting weird but you did not change the transmission fluid? Trying to understand this as oil and the trans fluid do not mix and mingle between the engine and trans.....

That was my thought initially. 6qts in for the change. I checked it after about a week of the nonsense. It was right in the middle of min/max.

Yes. Didn't touch the tranny fluid or tranny in any way. Didn't touch anything at all other than to drop the skid, pull the plug, pop the top, change the filter and then button it back up.

Thanks. I am scratching my head over here.

It does it in sport mode and it nornal mode. Doesn't matter if the oil temp and trans temps are cool or of the truck is warmed up.

I have done 2 oil changes on my Raptor so far in 2100 miles...sending samples to Speediagnotix...no difference in how it is running so far. Probably coincidence

It’s gotta be a complete coincidence, there’s nothing you could do changing the oil, or even using clear flood mode, that would affect the way the transmission shifts.

I would just bring it to your dealer as a normal transmission concern.

Thanks. That's exactly what I was thinking. Just dreading bringing it to the dealership. I tend to avoid those places like the plague. It's a complete tossup as to which tech you'll get and if they can or can't replicate the issue.

Understandable. You’re more than welcome to take a trip here to Illinois, I’ll get it fixed up for you 😂

I had my first oil change at the dealership. When I pulled out of the bay, my takeoff was very abrupt.

I attribute this to "Midget Mechanic Syndrome". This is when you go for service and the seat is slid far forward by the lot jockey. The angle of my leg to the clutch was totally different than in my normal driving position.

Would it be worth it somehow to disconnect the battery and see if it will relearn because somehow, someway that is actually the cause?
