So, without going into a long drawn out story, I clipped my side view mirror as I was backing into my garage.

Has anyone had to replace their side view mirror in its entirety? If so, what would you say is the level of difficulty in replacing it? Would anyone have any recommendations on where to get the Ford OEM replacement parts?

Thanks in advance for any tips and recommendations in advance!

Oh, and you may be askingā€¦.hereā€™s the aftermath:

Sorry about your mishap. Ask around, check for prices, then do the arithmetic for an insurance settlement. You not only have to figure out how this compares to forking out for your deductible (ouch), but ask your agent "What will my premiums be for the next 3, 5, or 7 years?" depending on how the surcharges factor on your policy (more ouch). Considering surcharges + deductible, your out-of-pocket may be your best option.

Ford should consider working out a motorized fold-in/fold-out mirror option. I had that on a Sienna; it was very handy. Would be nice when maneuvering tight spots on the trails, but one issue would be opening the door in the closed position. Maybe a fob function would fix that.

You used the word "aftermath." Gruesome random association: in my city there is a company which specializes in restoring a property after crimes. It's called "Aftermath." (Hey, I'm a writer with a morbid sense of humor!)

I appreciate the suggestions! Youā€™re right along the lines Iā€™ve already taken into consideration; having initially looked at parts online, it makes sense to replace it myself. It will cost a little more than my deductible, but I wonā€™t take a hit on my insurance - this would be considered ā€œincidentalā€, and according to my insurance, incidental doesnā€™t count against youā€¦or so they say. Iā€™d rather not put ammo into the gun, so to speak.

I managed to find a couple of places online that sell the genuine Ford OEM side mirror assembly, but if anyone else knows of reputable vendors, I am all ears!

Yeah, there isnā€™t really much to snap back together. The Mirror housing is a mangled mess. The upside is, I can at least salvage parts like the mirror, puddle light, and camera as spare parts in case I need them in the future.

The replacement mirror assembly from what Iā€™m told, comes fully assembled, including the mirror. The only thing I would need to but separately is the mirror cap - of which Iā€™m going to try to salvage from the wreckage.

Very easy. I found 1 at a salvage yard for 500 off a lux. If you have the lux package, new is over 1k. Stupid expensive for a mirror. I'll take that one off your hands. Maybe I can fix my old one for a spare

Iā€™ve managed to find a new OEM replacement for a bit less than $1,000.

As for my current one, the actual mirror assembly where the mirror, mirror motor, turn signal, BLIS, and camera are housed is pretty much shattered in pieces. Thankfully, the mirror is intact, along with the signal marker, the puddle light and the camera. I intend to salvage those for spare parts in case I need them in the future.

Iā€™m switching out the mirror caps on my Wildtrak for painted ones. You can have my stock caps if you canā€™t salvage yours.

I appreciate the offer! However, I went ahead and just ordered a replacement cap along with the side mirror assembly.

This will all serve as an expensive lesson to pay more attention as Iā€™m backing my Bronco into my garage.

Thank you again!

Youā€™re awesome! Great minds think alike - I happened to stumble across that diagram as I was scouring for info online, in a Reddit post.

That said, Iā€™m keeping this handy, just in case.

Thank you!

Yes Iā€™ve done it and itā€™s very easy, and trust me Iā€™m no oneā€™s mechanic. I actually have an assembly for sale if youā€™re interested. I had an extra I got from the dealership that they refused to take back and restock

Iā€™ve managed to find a new OEM replacement for a bit less than $1,000.
Do you mind sharing where you got the parts? I just barely brushed my mirror backing it up and popped the cap off and snapped a bunch of clips on the internal frame and the camera housing. Looking to replace just the damaged parts instead of the whole thing (dealer quoted ~$1200 to replace the mirror which feels excessive).
