I do hit it with my knee as well sometimes, but I always notice it because the dinger starts. Also my knee tends to hit the headlight switch when I'm getting in/out of the Bronco. I have no idea why, it drives me bonkers, because most of the time I don't notice that I accidentally turned the headlights on until my battery is nearly dead. But I can foresee myself bashing my kneecap into that knob.
I installed my RedArc Pro Trail a few months ago and put the knob in same location. Easy Peasy and haven't hit it with knee yet. Ordered the Ford combo kit directly from RedArc.Gave up on Ford and ordered the Redarc Tow Pro Trail for Ford Bronco from scamazon. Followed this guys install on youtube. Was hesitant at first drilling through lighting console but care with a step drill bit came out perfect. Definitely the better location. Note that the difference buying through Redarc than from Ford there is no foam or adhesive backing. I just used foam strip with adhesive backing and zip ties on inside of the plate under the steering wheel. And there's no black retainer clip for the main Ford connector so carefull pulling the old one out because you'll need to re-use it. See image with re-used clip attached.![]()
