That's big news! I'm not familiar with Paragon, I had to look it up....

>>>"The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources acquired 5,600 acres in Weiser State Forest in Schuylkill and Luzerne counties that will become a motorized recreation area.

Off-road enthusiasts will have a new public place in eastern Pennsylvania to drive their Jeeps and ATVs."
<<<
(and Broncos)!

This should be a nice addition to Rausch and AOAA, and a bit closer to me.

Paragon has (had) a lot of trails with elevation and big rocks. Most of Rausch is pretty flat trails.

I miss snow rock crawling. (OLD vids below, no sound, not worth watching at more than a 4" x 6" box on your screen :p)

Wow paragon was a fun place. Used to love the sand gravel pit area and some of the old mine shafts were cool. Neve went there with my eb. Only my f150. Rausch is cool but can get pretty crowded. Always nice to have another option.

Likewise! A friend of mine had an Xterra and we took it there for three group rides. Loved the place!

And then this happened to you.

Good, she is all fixed up (finally), but it was an expensive day.
Although about 1/10th the cost I suspect, if it was a 6G.
Hence I'm holding off until I can get a 6G beater, most likely
many years from now.

Absolutely heard that. I have one on order for a family camp rig/daily and still plan on keeping the Tacoma for the dumb stuff. I am extremely hesitant about all the electronic bull shit. I've been slowly eliminating all the electronic actuators on the tacoma except the rear locker and front air locker at this point. My 4wd actuator is next on the list to go soon with the dual cases I have sitting in the garage.

I emailed them about a year ago.

Hi Henry,

Thank you for asking.

We initially intended to open the area to ATV riding this year, but ran into some major obstacles along the way.

The most important of which is an acid mine drainage (AMD) problem that existed there prior to our purchase of the area.

This issue is currently being addressed but significantly delayed our plans. The AMD work will require building and expanding access to Catawissa Creek for heavy machinery and hauling of products.

Once this issue is addressed, we can finally fully address our trail building, access and parking, gates, etc.

It is possible to open some phased riding opportunities (meaning in pieces), but the earliest this could happen is 2025.

Our more conservative estimate for opening riding there will be 2026, but this whole process could even take longer.

In the meantime, the area is open for non-motorized recreation like hiking, bike riding, hunting, etc.

We are currently working on a more detailed update document to be published here:

https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateForests/FindAForest/Weiser/Pages/CatawissaRecArea.aspx

Please check that site in May for the update.

Best,

PaForester

Wasn't this the one , that when it all came out in the wash, it was a huge corrupt, scammy, grafty, political shitshow?

Something about a cargo airport if memory serves .... and in the end, Paragon was shut down because of a high level scam.

I thought the (frmr) owner/operators ended up buying the Badlands Offroad Park in Attica, Indiana .
