Raptor vs Badsquatch opinions wanted

Owner of a 23 wildtrack, and I've been looking at some of the newer models. Having 37 inch tire envy, I've naturally started gravitating to the raptor, a leftover 24. The only thing that concerns me is the width of the thing. It feels bigger than my wildtrack, which feels substantially larger than my Rubicon.

The 25 Badsquatch has the new B&O system, rear seat AC, and a real sized dash, but no 37s. I know they can be added, but I don't want to go down the rabbit hole where I lift, then the big tire mod, then UCAs, then springs, then new wheels, etc. On a Plus side the procal tune may have a larger impact on the 2.7 than 3.0.

My wheeling is mostly AZ desert (that's why the raptor's width concerns me) and usually level 6, maybe a 7 here or there often it's less than 6, but I'd like it to handle top of the world in Moab.. Either bronco should be more than capable of this. This leads me to wanting the opinions, is there an easy way to get the 37s on a Badsquatch that won't have me forever modding, have any of the AZ raptor guys found difficulty (width size) fitting on our trails.

Any other things I should be dwelling on?

You’ll end up forever modding the Raptor too…

Get the Raptor if you want it, but don’t think the ride ends at 37s… But if 37s are really all you want, just throw them on the Wildtrak and do the “upgrade as it breaks” plan, rather than shotgunning every single part that might possibly get a bit stressed… any Bronco can run 37s, sure it takes a little bit, but you don’t need a Raptor to do that and your Wildtrak starts out a helluva lot closer to running them than most.

I have owned both and the width is noticeable both on and off-road however, the suspension & added power & 37s are a game changer.

We have a Raprtor and a Badsquatch and wheel them both in the Colorado Rockies. I bought the Badsquatch first and modded it significantly but still wanted more power so I bought the Raptor and gave the Badsquatch to my wife. Despite trying to convince myself otherwise, the Raptor is what I was ultimately looking for since the Raptor’s suspension and 3.0 engine are a significant improvement to me over the normal 2.7 Bronco even with a high quality aftermarket suspension. Even though the Raptor is very wide and takes some adjusting when driving it as a daily, I’m extremely happy with the Raptor and haven’t looked back.

I had a modded Badlands Sasquatch on 37’s. Then I bought the Raptor. Two totally different vehicles. The Raptor is one of the best open top vehicles I’ve ever owned. I’ve had it a year now and the mods I’ve made are FP tune, factory soft top, FP winch and the Tuffy storage box. The drive in the Raptor is an Amazing factory option.

I have a ‘25 badsquatch and was also toying with Raptor. After renting one for 3 day weekend, I’m glad I went with the badsquatch for a few reasons: 35s ride better than 37s. Raptor is WIDE and just not practical all around driver. Badsquatch is better as trail crawler. Power difference is not all that noticeable if you add on ford performance tune on the 2.7l it vastly improves shift and throttle response. Good luck with your decision

Raptor pickup=good. Raptor bronco? Meh. They just don’t impressa me much. It’s just too much like the regular bronco when you’re sitting inside of it.

That said, with your criteria and with the price drops on braptor, if I was in your shoes I’d go raptor. Or keep the Wildtrak and upgrade the suspension. Not having the electronic swaybar disconnect from the factory is

I would like to see a 2dr small Bronco for maneuverability off road and ease of operation. With my CJ5 if i could get down the trail and had to turn around I could. It could uturn on any trail it could drive down it was one of the very few off road vehicles capable of doing this. Would be nice to have a Bronco that could match that ability

Agreed - I can’t think of a modern equivalent of a small off-road, trail capable rig because today’s vehicles are all HUGE! I have a 2 for Jeep TJ that I use for snow plowing and I can turn around in a driveway (not so much for any Gen 6 Bronco)

We have the Badlands Sasquatch two-door with a 2.7 and a pro cal tune. And it is much more responsive than my wife’s Explorer ST with the 3.0. Plus your only option is a four-door if you go with the raptor.

Your avatar indicates you park in the garage, also consider the width in the garage, as a few inches makes a huge difference. I park my Bronco next to a RAM 2500, and while a Braptor would fit, it would certainly make things tighter in the garage, especially since I have to walk between them to get to my desk.

I have both. Don't waste your time/money trying to make the SAS into a Braptor. The only people that don't like Braptors are the ones that don't own them. They are two different animals, the Braptor is superior to a SAS in every capacity. I love our 2 door SAS and have no intention of selling it anytime soon, but the Braptor is king of the hill. Plenty of great deals on them now, upgrade and I guaranty you'll never look back.

exactly. Ford says its creating the ultimate off road vehicle and yet they leave out one of the most important essentials of one. I usually travel alone and if I get in a fix its up to me to get myself out so i want maneuverability. Aint no AAA where i go or anyway to contact them unless you have a sat phone and they are often not working back in canyons and forests.
