Rain Sensing Wiper Problem...

So I bought my wild track just being in the right spot at the right time. The person who ordered it wanted rain sensing wipers... I absolutely hate them!
Anyone have any insight on what I have to buy, to remove to go back to the standard mode? Not sure if I can just buy a oem turn signal lever with the standard wipe setting. I already checked Forscan and couldn't find anything.

Well I stand corrected... what's up with only 3 speeds though? We don't get like 6 or 7 like the 150's?

They are not rain sensing. They call it "Smart Wiper Motor Operations". Several threads about them. Most agree with you.

Bronco vehicles are equipped with a smart windshield wiper motor, which has the capability of sensing load of the wiper blades coming across the windshield glass. As a result of this operational characteristic/design, the operation may not be what is expected in certain conditions. The vehicle is programmed with protection features to prevent damage to the wiper motor in case of overheating, operation with dry windshields, or obstructions to the wiper blade (snow, ice, etc.). In such conditions, the wiper motor will temporarily reduce its speed and/or reduce area of cleaning until the condition is no longer present.

That sounds absolutely horribly...
1st I've noticed that the wipers move really slow. I'm someone who is very slow on turning them in and usually slower speeds for the conditions which drives my wife crazy from the old days of wearing motors and blades out. So the blades aren't dry over a dry window. They just move really slow I thought.
2nd I've noticed that why do the blades not go down when in use? It seems very weird for them to stay up, like abnormally high when on?.

That’s just how they were designed. Ford does that in other vehicles too as far as not going down all the way unless off.

What most owners seem to have done, which anecdotally has worked for me, is to leave your wipers raised for a few days/nights. It’ll stretch the springs in the wiper arm a tad and relieve some of that extra tension that causes the hesitant wipe.

Being in a northern climate, my wipers have been raised for about ¼ of the year and I no longer have this issue

it amazes me more that a $55k-$85k (OBX - Raptor) vehicle like the Bronco does not have rain sensing wipers but a $30k Kia Sportage does

I guess had assumed about the rain sensing wipers. I always order my pickups without them through ford. This was more of a oh shiny, I like it purchase. So yes, unlike the super duty side that I do know, not as much on this side since I was going to wait to buy one.
But how you mention salesmen, I knew the difference between badlands and wildtrak. The salesmen was trying to show me the turn assist was the sway bar disconnect.

I don't know how old the OP is but....

For us old folks vehicles have become much more complicated and the buying experience has changed.

It's hard to believe that in the past a salesman would actually sell you a vehicle by showing all of things it does and quoting specifications. You would also get an actual manual printed on paper and bound like a book. Not an electo-online-buried in the dark spaces of the interweb or some menu of that newfangled computer in the center of the dash board.

A new vehicle has turned into dozens of computers on wheels. It's not just switches and levers like is old folk grew up with.

The C-virii turned that into "buy it now, it's the only one on the lot, rush to finance and down the road you go". A really good dealer might take the time to bolt your temp tag on instead of taping it to a window.

But it's not just vehicles, how many know every feature of their cell phone or personal computer?

Heck, I just recently learned that the space bar on my cell phone acts like a track bar for text. Press and hold and slide the cursor back and forth. That would have saved me a ton of tapping doing corrections.

I'm glad this came up again. Thought I was going crazy. There are other posts on this subject including one of my own. Here's what I've learned so far:

* The damn wipers on full throttle would just start fast, as they should, but then slow to a crawl. This has happened in heavy FL thunderstorms (anyone familiar knows how freaken scary that is to happen on hwy95).
* I found by turning all the way off and on full throttle again it noticeably changed the behavior
* I also found by keeping the wipers lifted while parked loosened the tension which has seemed to show a slight improvement on speed/consistency.
* The dealer I took it to ran all sorts of tests and found no electrical or mechanical issues. In short you're on your own until Ford corporate realizes this is a problem (perhaps, sadly when someone has a high visibility accident or a class action comes their way).
