Not sure if others have the same level of rust or I have a fast paced corroding metal part. I understand rust is normal for some of these parts but this to me looks out of the norm. See pictures and thanks for looking.

Normal or concern?

Normal. Unpainted cast iron (steel) parts surface rust, almost immediately.

As an "extreme" example. My 14 Stang has never seen rain or snow, still surface rusted on unpainted driveshaft/flange.

Drive shaft I am used to, I am not even sure what part that is in the picture I posted. The amount of rust looked out of place to me for a Bronco that was produced less than 6 months ago.

The upper part is the center section on the turbo, it is cast iron, as it also encompasses the hot, or exhaust side, of the turbo (usually called the turbine section). The lower part I believe is part of the cyl block, which on the 2.7 is CGI (compacted graphite iron). See the darker section in the middle of block in this pic.

You had me at cast iron, total makes sense why the rust looks that way.

Thanks again!

I noticed the same thing on my 2022 wildtrak built around the same time 10/22. Does it also extend to the right side as shown in the attached picture?

I can look again but I am sure it's the entire cover so I would venture yes. My question as yours does everyone regardless of year have this same condition. Consensus is that it's normal due to that part of the engine being IRON and not the same material as the other parts around the engine.
