Hello,

Was turning left at a traffic light today. There was a break in oncoming traffic and I pressed the gas so I could make the left turn. My Bronco moved into the intersection and power cut out, as though I had less power than I would at idle. I pressed the pedal to the floor and nothing happened so I released the pedal and tried pressing again. Engine power came back. By the time engine power came back, oncoming traffic was on top of me honking their horns because I was still in the intersection. Thank God I did not get T boned in a car accident today. On coming traffic was paying attention and hit their brakes. After I was clear of the intersection I pumped the gas again and had full power and acceleration. The rest of the ride home the gas pedal seemed fine. Has anyone else experienced this? Was there a cause and resolution?

Check for DTC codes

Also check to make sure you pushed the correct pedal (it happens)

A lot of people have had similar concerns, including myself. I honestly think it’s just an issue with Ford’s engine calibration, because ever since I went to a custom tune, I’ve never once been able to replicate it again.

I’ve notice some quirky behavior with throttle response and shifting since I started going back and forth between normal mode and eco mode each day.

I’ll have to get the codes. Don’t have the ability read them yet. Lol, yes two pedals with very different feel. When I floor the big one, I feel it when my seat belt bites my shoulder. Bronco has good breaks. :)

Forgot about the buckin’ Bronc issue since I did ProCal but good point - could just be that

Thank you for mentioning the name of this issue. I’m a new Bronco driver and was not aware of this issue. Just looked it up. Thanks Ducati1098 and Brian_B. I’ll look into tuning as well.

Yeah depending on the mode you use, it’s going to adjust throttle sensitivity and shift points.

I have had the same issue on my Braptor and other vehicles I've owned. I think it's traction control cutting power because you might have had a little wheel slippage. Sometimes they save your ass and other times can get you killed.

Are there other posts describing the same issue I had? I’m new to the forum. Tried using the search feature yesterday and google but did not find much on this issue. Maybe it’s the search criteria?

I was thinking traction control cutting power as well. Mine is pretty loosey goosey though. Lets me slide it around quite a bit. May be different with the auto.

Is it possible some collision control kicked in? Yesterday out of nowhere during a sharp turn my dash display showed an alert as if I was going to hit something, even though nothing was there. Not sure if it could also cut throttle. That dang dash alert is going to cause an accident it's so abrupt when I'm focusing my attention to driving.

The 7MT folks call it buckin bronc because it feels just like you let the clutch out too fast and the engine almost stalls and jerks pretty severely as you mash the gas trying to keep it from dying. Always from a stop or 1-2 shift, so very low vehicle speeds

It probably feels a lot different in an auto with a torque converter but I would not be surprised at all if it’s the same issue: just a general lack of engine response when you are first getting moving from a stop. It is definitely not collision avoidance or AdvanceTrac

No idea what the root cause is, and for the longest time I thought I was just being too lazy with the clutch - but once I installed ProCal it never did it again.
