Plastic to capable bumper

Hey all just a couple questions on swapping out the plastic to capable bumper on my 22 wildtrak. I understand you either have to cut off the tow hooks or buy the intercooler brackets which is what i will probably do. However what other parts do i need?

Will my old front parking sensors still work on the capable bumper?
What is the part number for the metal skid plate that works on the capable bumper?
Do i need a new harness for anything or can i use the original off my plastic bumper?

The bumper i found comes with fog lights but thats pretty much it. If anyone has done this before or know this information it would be really helpful. I plan to just go to my local ford dealer and purchase the extra parts i need, cant seem to find any solid information online. Thanks in advance.

You can trim the plastic skid, to work with the capable bumper, till you find a used bash plate. If you have a 4-door, the OEM skid plate kit for around $660 (during 25% sales) is a pretty good deal, since it includes the gas tank skid plate). It takes about 1 minute to cut off the tow hooks, so I couldn't imagine spending $150(?) on new brackets, if you ever decided you wanted to go back, you could simple pay $150(?), for the tow hooks again.

I had some Ford points built up and got the brackets for free basically with free shipping so I said why not. So now by doing the brackets, my plastic skid plate should fit just fine without having to trim or manipulate anything, correct?

Nope.

Your capable bumper will fit just fine without having to cut the tow hooks off with those new mounts. You will still need to trim about 4” of the front edge of the plastic skid plate for it to tuck under and fit in the capable bumper, or source the metal skid plate, which is a bit shorter in length.


Amazon has a Chinese knockoff that is 99% identical to the OEM ford front plate, and this would require zero cutting. You would still have the plastic mid plate though - that does not require any modification either way

When I did mine, I just used a sawzall to cut about 4” of the plastic plate off the front and tucked it like a Hollywood porn Star

I eventually got metal plates after I bashed the ever loving crap out of my intercooler but the plastic plate held up just fine with the surgery.
