Painted hard top update

I have a 2022 badland with a hard top MIC Gray, and I want to replace it with a painted body color (black) hardtop that I see many broncos with today. My questions are: Can this be done, where do I find this top (want ford OEM), does it fit exactly onto the body of the bronco as my currently owned top, and what is the cost?

Going off memory on this forum, I think it was said that the painted top alone is like 7 or 8 gs and it comes only primered then your looking at roughly another 3 grand or so to get it prepped and painted. I could be way off here but I think that’s what was said here before.

Ya…..I’m not 100% sure I’m recalling that info correctly, but I think I’m close, ya crazy it’s so expensive. I’m on my 2nd MIC and had in my mind that I would consider that upgrade too, but when I saw that post I figured the Linex route is what I will end up doing. Hopefully somebody else that knows the cost for sure will reply to your post.

I don't think you can buy one directly from Ford (thought I read that here somewhere) so you would have to find a used one or new takeoff.

To my knowledge you can’t buy a painted top from ford. You’ll have to find a second hand one. I’ve seen a few for sale on here but they are a pretty penny, pushing 10k

The only two ways of getting it are used such as FB marketplace where they can be found for around $5-6k here in NY or trade your rig in for one that has it already.

To my knowledge you can’t buy a painted top from ford.

You can buy one from any Ford dealer. Have been able to for years now.

No shit? Good to know. When I bought mine I asked about it and they said that you couldn’t (3 years ago but still) That might have to be the move for me on my next top.

It’s super pricey. I haven’t looked up the prices in a little while, but I doubt they’ve come down much, if at all.

IMO, if you are going to spend that kind of money....get a all aluminum hardtop from Armadillo. You can have it any color you want. I have one....worries of the MIC are over!!! The Armadillo will last longer than the entire Bronco itself.

Agree that this is a better option assuming Ford would charge a similar amount.

Probably better off trying to find one at a junk yard from a wrecked Bronco.

Imho, just buy a new Bronco. If your 2022 is in good condition, you can probably get a similar spec 2026(2025 if you can find it) that comes with a painted top and be out of pocket less than $20k. The hard top alone will cost more than half that to buy standalone.
