^THIS. I doubt a buy-back is even appropriate for such a minor issue. I would be upset too but you are expecting far too much....try and get some compensation and buy some accessories with it.
The car’s computer is not properly communicating with the outlet and Ford has no idea how to fix. It is likely a bigger issue than just the USB with more headaches to come. If Ford can’t figure out how to fix it, clearly it is not some minor issue like y’all think. Lemon law attorney I talked to already said it qualifies. But I just heard from the dealership that Ford is going to help out with trade in value so I can get a replacement… we will see how that goes

It's not about being a Ford apologist, but for me the Bronco checks off so many boxes in terms of functionality and fun, a USB port that doesn't charge would be way down on my list of complaints, certainly not rising to the level of months out of action and lemon law buyback. But hey maybe I'm an easy date, lol.

Also I don't use the built-in USB port on any of my vehicles for charging, they usually provide lackluster performance. I have $10 or whatever fast chargers that plug into the cigarette lighter ports.
If not in a hurry a slow charge is much better for the life of the battery, I use the cable for charging and car play.

It is at 2nd dealer, neither can fix it and both reached out to ford engineers for help and did not get a response. USB on dash works, but not ideal having a cord hanging from dash and I would like to connect by wire to entertainment. Yes I use Bluetooth, but CarPlay lags with Bluetooth and works better wired. There has been 5+ visits to dealers and well over 60 days under repair. If there is an electrical issue Ford can’t figure out, I am not going to just ignore it. There are other little issues I have ignored, but this is big enough that I would like ford to fix it.
So you are saying the USB in the console does not connect to the entertainment system???

Mine does not connect either. Never has, but from my understanding it is not supposed to. It is charge only! Edit: I might be crazy but I swear I read that it is charge only somewhere!?!?

Sorry not the console, I am referring to the usb outlet underneath the entertainment screen that should connect to the entertainment

Try another dealership? Every state has kooky laws on this. Florida is pretty cut and dry. Keep moving forward and good luck!!
Dealership has absolutely zero to do with your lemon law claim. It's between you and the manufacturer. Getting an attorney involved should be standard practice once you meet your state's requirement. You will do better and waste less of your own time by far. I know from recent experience...

In this case I would probably be annoyed by the non functioning USB, but not to the extent of having my vehicle at the shop for 2 months, and certainly not resorting to money, guns and lawyers in a lemon law attempt.
Do you regularly pay for goods and services you do not receive? ;)

I just do not believe how many people think this is okay. If your car doesn't work right and the manufacturer cannot fix it during your warranty period you are legally entitled to these protections...

I would argue that not a single person is "okay" with this. I think it just sounds a little extreme to lemon law a vehicle when the USB doesn't work. It's not right and Ford should fix it period. I probably wouldn't return a vehicle for that, I would find a work around. Wireless Android Auto/Carplay is so much better any way.

Yes, but if the manufacturer is incapable of repairing it after 60+ days of loss of service, what is the original poster supposed to do in this case?

Yes, you can find work arounds, and maybe if this was a 5 or 6 year old out of warranty vehicle you'd just deal. But for a newer car that is still in the manufacturer's bumper to bumper warranty, it's ridiculous.

Everyone's threshold for what they will put up with is different and it's not right to pass judgment on someone if you're willing to drive around with stuff not working the way it is supposed to.

Perhaps he and the rest of us all should realize this is one of the real downsides of the modern "software" enabled car. The fact is the the whole usb ecosystem is cheap cheap cheap - all the parts and most of the software made/written in Asia for mere pennies. When it works in your everyday gadgets for more than a year (heck, for more then a month) it's a miracle. It's a mistake to put usb anything in an environment such as a car, but apparently that's what the market wants so Ford and everyone else does it.

Someone upstream used the analogy of buying a house and finding the toilets not working...except the OP's situation is not like that at all. It's more like buying a house and finding that a corner of the carpet is rolling up in a closet somewhere - then demanding a refund. No, saying that is not "blindly defending Ford", but it is keeping perspective as there are problems and then there are problems. The OP admits a workaround exists (bluetooth), but it is "laggy". He also admits this is a kind of last straw, which makes the most sense. He wonders if having trouble with a 2.5 cent usb port points to other more serious problems...well no, not very likely.

Consumer grade tech is cheap cheap cheap, expect some significant % of it to fail wherever it is, particuarly if it is in the NVH of a automobile.

I agree, as I said Ford should fix it period. And no judgement here at all. Op is entitled to a fully functioning vehicle and more power to him in whatever means necessary to get it....imagine this conversation for a minute...Yeah man I had to sue Ford to Lemon Law my Bronco...oh man that sucks, what for, engine blow up, transmission go out two or three times?? No, my phone wouldn't connect to the USB port!!!
It just sounds crazy!

This is great news, right? Since the dealership(s) covered loaners/rental cars the last couple months you're not out of pocket, correct?

I CANNOT begin to imagine the frustration and angst FoMoCo and the dealership(s) caused by not being able to figure out why your USB port could not play tunes from the iPod.

Lets keep these updates coming! This thread could be awesomely helpful to others in the future who experience similar USB issues and pursue Lemon Law OEM Buyback Trade-in. #assumingthisisreal
