One pod light not working

Need to help in case im missing something stupid. I know diode will help me Monday. Installed the pod lights. Connected them to Aux 6 switch. One light works great, one is completely dead. Checked connections and all are snug. I assuming everything is done correctly when the switch activates the left light. Just want to make sure im not missing something simple and thought I would ask here as Diode is closed until monday. Thanks!

A multimeter will give you the answer instantly if you know how to use it.

If you put the black lead on ground and the red lead on the positive, you'll get back 12-14v DC if the connection is good. If no voltage, keep testing each splice point until you hit the upfitter switch power lead.

If no voltage near the light, poke your black lead to an unpainted metal part of the vehicle to ground to chassis and test the positive again. If no voltage, keep moving up the harness, testing any point you spliced wires. If you have voltage when grounded to the chassis, it's a grounding issue. Otherwise it's likely an issue with your positive at a splice point.


If you aren't experienced with multimeter, just pick up a cheap one from Amazon as you don't need precision here. I imagine Diode is going to give you similar instructions as it's really the only way to see where the break in the circuit is.


Make sure you aren't running a harness with a relay or fuse between your upfitter positive and your pod lights. The upfitter already includes those and it's just complicating the circuit.

I had to modify all of my harnesses (Rigid) by removing everything after the relay (by cutting the wires right before the relay and tossing the relay/fuse) because they weren't Bronco specific.

On the one not working try replugging and in doing so switch positions of the two prongs. You may have it backwards. It happened to me.

Where did you buy them? Contact the vendor you got them from for support. Or if you bought from Diode they may not respond till Monday then.

Swap the lights from one side to another. If problem follows the light it's probably the light.

Doing wiring on a vehicle, everyone should have a volt/ohm meter. But if you want to check things quickly, and don't want to wait for Amazon, your local parts store should have a test light available.
