Alright guys so I installed a UPR catch can and oil breather cap on my 2.7 bronco day 1 with 40 miles. I have 1,600 miles on it so far with some hard use, first oil change performed at 1,000. At no point has the catch can picked up anything. There is a slight oil film inside but nothing more. Catch can is definitely installed correctly. Anyone else have this "issue" or know what could be the cause? The only thing I could think of is the breather cap is allowing the crankcase to breath so well that the catch can doest have enough oil to pick up. There is often oil coated around the cap. Any help is appreciated.

IMO they are useless on a brand new non tuned engine. And probably not needed at all on a modern engine

Be interesting to hear from others since “catch can” was the talk back in the day.

@Raptor.Tremor.Bronco , there's nothing wrong.

If you found over 1oz. of oil in there, then I'd be concerned on a relatively new engine with less than 2000 miles on it.

My Hellcat fills it in about 2,500 miles. It all depends on how well designed the PCV system is from the factory, some are really bad at capturing oil mist. HEMI's are awful, LS is pretty good, I won't gamble on the 2.7L, it's cheap insurance.

From all I've heard, these new 2.7 gen 2 Nano's are dual port injected. They have no need for a catch can set up.

Total waist of money! And your post proves it. Smart folks have been saying all along that these parts totally are unnecessary for the dual injection 2.7. Some folks will buy ANYTHING if there is hype attached to it!

So funny the manufacturer is still promoting these as ”helpful” ...and beneficial.

I'd send that shit back and tell them where to stuck it.

Well you can buy it too, and then ask us 3 months later why there's still no oil in there...hahaha

FWIW, I have one on my 1.5L Bronco Sport. Installed at about 3k miles (my first oil change was at 2k miles).

Second oil change was at 4k miles. Catch can had nothing in it.

Third oil change at 7k miles. Catch can was about 3/4 full. Checked it again at about 9k miles, was about 3/4 full again.

Fourth oil change coming up on 10k miles.

I assume the can is doing it's job.

The need for a catch can has nothing to do with fueling strategy.
