I have used Engineering Mode to correct the mpg shown to reflect more closely the real world calculated mpg on our '23 Bronco. We recently purchased a '24 Bronco Sport and one of the first things I did was try to enter Engineering Mode. I've tried every permutation I can find to no avail. I asked the service tech at the dealership and he said Ford removed the ability to get into Engineering Mode in the 2024 model. I don't know if that is true or not. I wonder if the same happened in the full-size Broncos for 2024.
While this is particular to the Bronco Sport and I have had a discussion on the much smaller Sport Forum, I wonder a couple things. Has anyone with a 2024 or '25 full-size Bronco tried to enter Engineering Mode and if so were you successful. Second, with all the experts here, does anyone know if the adjustment is possible using Forscan? I have never used Forscan, but if it is possible to adjust the mpg bias using Forscan in the big Broncos, perhaps I can use it to adjust it in the Sport.
Thanks for any input.

The AFE Bias is not accessible/modified via ForScan. I don't know why engineering test mode would be disabled for future model years. There is a lot that can be done that I would think a service tech needs access to. With regards to the Sport, I have no idea if it ever had that functionality.

I posted a write-up that was buried in another thread in how to access engineering test mode and adjust the AFE Bias. I'll see if I can find it for others that are reading [See the link for the write-up]. You obviously know how/why to adjust the AFE Bias.

Thanks for the reply Beach! It's disappointing to know that the AFE Bias can not be adjusted in Forscan. That was to be my backup :). Yes, I started out on a smaller Sport forum and others with earlier Sports can enter Engineering Mode with the same steps used on the Big Broncos.

My pessimistic thought is that Ford never openly supported customers using the Engineering Mode and probably don't like it and so may well have done something to either disable it or maybe "hide" it much better. It seems most if not all manufacturers' displayed MPG that is exaggerated. I suspect the companies like it that way so when owners talk to their friends or relatives and post the mpg that they get, it is more encouraging to the person hearing about that particular vehicle.

I don't think it is any conspiracy theory. The AFE Bias is constant on all new trucks. There are so many variances from vehicle weight, driver behavior, geography, environment, etc that there is no way for Ford to account for all the factors. It really shouldn't be buried in the engineering test mode. Should be a setting accessible through SYNC.

Sorry to resurrect a thread. I hope this helps the OP.

Try entering Engineering test mode with the driver's door open.

I told my salesman about it and he tried it on a Bronco Sport on the lot. He said he had to open the driver's door for it to work. Everything else is the same.

Thank you Calvin for replying to this old thread. I tried it again in the '24 Sport, with the door open and closed. Still no love

If you're ever in Phoenix, drop into Sanderson Ford and talk to Dan Zeh. He's the salesman I bought my Bronco from. Great guy! I'm pretty sure he was able to get it to work on a 2024. I'll ask him next time I talk to him.

FYI, it's a bit finicky. After writing that post I went out and tried it again on my Bronco. Took me several tries before I got it to work.

I can’t get into it on my ā€˜23 full size to save my life. I’m sure I’m just not doing it right though.

Any of these magical combinations of brake pressing, ACC power on/off, toggling buttons on the steering wheel, etc. require the precision of a safe cracker. It's often the count of seconds between steps that are "off". Which leads to repeating the sequence again.
