I don't have any sort of code reader for any of our vehicles, so I'm looking for an OBDII that I can keep at home in the garage. My Bronco is totally fine for the moment (less than 1300 miles on it!) but in time, I may need to have something handy. In the meantime my wife's Hyundai Elantra is a code generating machine!! So I'd like to get something that is pretty universal - and I was looking at this Blue Driver thing:

https://www.amazon.com/BlueDriver-B...id=1752981742&sprefix=blue+dri,aps,208&sr=8-1

Any input or suggestions?

I read the link…. Looks like it may be handy for sure. I mean almost 60,000 people gave it 4.5 stars….
Thanks. That's kind of what I'm thinking but I just wondered if there was some "go to" tool out there that is the defacto standard.

I've had the bluedriver for 2 years now. Works awesome. Shows all kinds of values for readings of obd sensors and counts misfires and so much more I don't even use. I've used it on multiple personal and work vehicles. But to be honest havent needed it for the bronco yet. Had a $400 innova one for 10 years before that and this one is hands down way better.

That's kind of where I plead ignorance...will Blue Driver interface with Forscan, or do I need something specific? Right now I'll probably be reading codes out of my wife's Hyundai more often than the Bronco, but you never know.

You can try e mailing them, they are usually pretty quick to respond (1-2 days). My guess is they will say Nyet, and use what they recommend - but you never know.

This is dumb side question because I now have that Bluetooth OBD for FS Lite displaying codes etc, but does it work with programming FS? My info may be out of date (FS said in the old days you can’t program with the BT dongle). Bronco in shop at my festival-of-the-inbred dealer so I can’t check now. It’d be great to ditch a wired connection to program FS.

Works just fine with PC Forscan and programming.

It does not work with FDRS though.

I have a PC laptop - what else would I need to connect to the Bronco for Forscan?

Wondering too if I only need one or the other: OBDLink+ or Blue Driver...or do they perform two different functions?

If you own the Bluedriver it reads codes. I looked it up and there is no license needed.
You pay a license fee to use Forscan or FS Lite (app $8/yr) and for sure need a compatible connection.

Once you get the BT OBD thing and a FS PC license you can do it all. Personally, I’d put the thing I linked to in, use any free or cheap app to read codes through my phone (and display values if needed in real time, FS Lite), and program via FS. Ditch the other thing you have.

I don't have anything at the moment, but I thing I'm following along. It sounds like Forscan will allow me to program/make changes, while Blue Driver reads codes? Maybe Forscan spits out codes too? Blue Driver may be more my speed, I'm not looking to do any editing to my system. Call me a weirdo but I actually like auto stop/start. :like:
