Hello everyone! i am looking into placing an order for my first bronco. I am reaching out to see what the community has learned over the last few years when ordering and taking delivery. I am admittedly going to only be daily driving this and really only going to be surfing and snowboarding with her, maybe some light off-roading if my life allows me to get out there (it is what it is). So i am looking for some advice from you all on what order timing is these days as well as what factory add-ons may or may not be worth it. I am interested in an Eruption Green Outer Banks 4dr with the soft top. I was thinking of adding the raised lid cargo area storage to protect against theft as theft is unfortunately very rampant in Cali. Are there aftermarket options that are better? Any thoughts, feedback and ideas from you all would be great!

OBX sounds perfect for what you're using it for. If you're willing to travel, I'd look around and see what deals are out there for in stock vehicles instead of ordering and waiting, and waiting. I can't comment on the raised lid enclosure. I have the 2 door version that doesn't raise. Keep in mind, it's bolted in, so if you need extra space, it might be a pain.

I don't mind the wait for exactly what i want because i still have a year and a half left on my current lease. So I'm not in dire rush for a new car. Im just now starting my search. I definetly dont mind travel for the right deal.

As for the cargo cover, yes that's my worry that I'm locked into it. I don't normally haul anything large so it should be fine in theory. My surfboard can go on top of it and my golf bag should fit in it.

My thoughts mirror @Blackcat, search around the auto sites because I'm sure someone has a green OBX softie in stock they would be willing to deal if it's been on the lot for awhile. As for accessories you got to have from Ford all I can say is most of them you can have installed at anytime you choose like the locking rear compartment or do it yourself if you're handy. The ones I'd say is a must from Ford would be the accessory switches if you plan on supplemental lighting at all and the rear diff since you didn't say anything about going with the Sasquatch package. Anything else you could want you can get aftermarket with a better selection and better price.

Either way good luck!

If you are interested in leather seats but find something that has everything you want besides cloth, definitely get it. The Ford seats are cheap at best, and with Katzkin you can get much better leather plus heating and legitimate cooling via the Peltier effect. Air coming out of the seats can get to about 60F as best I can tell, compared to simply having a fan blowing the cabin air through the seats. (I only mention the last part as that’s what Ford uses in the pickups. Ventilated seats are not an option on the Bronco)

I would second an OBX (which has painted fender flares and door handles) or the WildTrak if you don't mind spending the cash. The non-Sasquatch Badlands is pretty nice and close to the Sas BL, however it comes with plates you won't really need in sand. Plus the WT is the "desert" Bronco and both OBX and WT come stock with Sport mode (BL has Rock Crawl instead).

Only downside I can see with the WT is that it doesn't come with wash out floors, comes with carpet. Why the "desert" Bronco comes with carpet has more to do with the price and market targeted than the "desert" part. YMMV.

I have an EG OBX w/ soft top, so obviously I recommend. I did order mine with the mod bumper and SAS. My favorite factory mod (outside of the bumper and SAS) is the rubber floor liners. I also got the upgraded carpet floor mats, which can't be used with the rubber floor liners, but I never used them again. The green with the roast interior is great. Also, I was very supervised at how much I love the bronze dash!

Just a heads up, orders now are typically getting delivered to dealers in about 4-6 months so if you still a year and a half on your lease, you might want to either wait or just go pick one up from the lot once the time comes

There is probably going to be a 2-dr Eruption Green Bronco with KRAKEN for grill letters available soon in Louisiana.

As someone who lives in a desert i was very sad to see that cooled seats weren't an option. but hey is katskins can do it then ill just look at that eventually.

Big thing too if you're 18 months out is that you'll be ordering a '25 and right now no ones real sure what, if any, changes will be happening. Year to year changes have been minor so far but changes in the past have been swap from cloth to vinyl seats, washout floors, some colors go away and new ones are added.

They are waaaaaaaaaay better than any other ventilated seat option I’ve used. Had full days of wheeling and spotting in Moab with no swamp ass. Could get sweaty from hiking and spotting then jump back in to the rig and that cold air coming out of the seat was very noticeable. The blower on medium blows the same as my Recaro equipped Rappy on high, but they actually blow cold air.

Its hit and miss though depending on options and availability, some OBX's are delivered in that time frame. Others like mine was closing in on two years, and then they dropped the 2.7L from the OBX so I just bought a WT.

Just be sure not to order more doors than you need.
