How often does your touchscreen freeze and need to be reset? It used to be once a month for me. But now almost every other time I start up my 23’ Bronco, it freezes on the horse or backup camera screen. It either restarts itself after 3 minutes, or needs to be reset with the power button and skip button.

Is this happening for anybody else? Is there a known fix for it I missed somewhere else on here?

Not necessarily freezing to the point of needing a reset. Think I've only had it black screen once.

However, a more annoying issue is sometimes it will play my music only on the right side speakers. That always requires a reset.

There's definitely some spaghetti-ness going on with it.

I have a '21, and this happens to me maybe once every couple weeks or so. I don't remember it happening much at all before sometime last fall.

I turned off the delayed camera setting in the menus today as that is the last setting I changed before this started happening more and more. Could be a red herring. But at this point I’m going to check anything.

Wireless carplay fails to connect at least once a week causing me to reset. Never worked as good as it did during delivery, updates have made it less stable.

My startup animation randomly disappeared. I took it to the dealership and they performed a reset (that anyone has access to). Didn't resolve the issue and really don't feel like going back for them to plug it in and re install Sync 4.

First glitch with the screen the other day. I shut the Bronco off, wife got out, so I turned on the accessory to listen to the radio till she got back. Turned the engine back on and black screen. Restarted 2 more times and nothing, still black. Turned the engine off and let the electronics time out. Opened the door as if I was exiting or entering and restarted, back to normal. For a minute was thinking might need to do some kind of hard reset.

Hello there! I would like to look into this touch screen concern on my end. Please send over a private message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer and I'll see how to best assist.

I am having the same problem. It started by freezing, and wouldn't respond to touch. Then it would go black for a day or so. I took it in to the service department, and they re-flashed it. The problem came back though, and got worse. Now the screen is totally black, and its back at the dealership. They want $1467 to replace the unit. I was hoping they would take care of it, since I pointed it out while it was still under warranty and it wasn't resolved. I've seen a few different posts on this. I am apprehensive that a new head unit would still have the same problem, and fail as well.

How long before you most recently went in was this?

Could be the dealer figures they fixed it, and now it's broke for possibly some other reason.

(Saying that, I do agree with you, a decent dealership would push for a warranty repair)

You can check junkyard and replace it yourself if you're up to it, or just pay and have dealer replace it. I doubt it would reappear, unless the problem isn't actually the head unit.
This is why I got the extended warranty, but I've had no issues with mine, except sometimes Bluetooth doesn't connect and I can't play music. But that resets after I turn the car off.

Also, find out exactly what they mean when they say 'head unit, get a part number

It's not that simple with Sync 4 vehicles. Even if it is the same p/n, if the APIM you swap in has different firmware than the one you are replacing, it will cause back-end server issues and break the OTA/FDRS update process on said vehicle. You can DIY an APIM swap, but you will need to PMI it with FDRS to avoid problems in the future.

The service ticket says: remove and replace the APIM/SYNC module.

If your Fordpass is connected, message me the VIN. There may be codes it is reporting that provide a clue to the problem. These things are not easy to diagnose remotely, but sometimes, the codes can be obvious in terms of what the problem is.

Good time to buy aftermarket .....faster can dump sync and spyware the better.
