Improving low beams with fogs?

The white SS3’s are Offroad lights and not street legal. On the street you should only be running the fogs with lows (or high if you did the Forscan mod). In Tx you can only run one set of fogs with lows in the street.

DD makes SAE fog and SAE driving patterns that are street legal. Check your local/state laws on what you can run on the street…

Understand, my point was when driving trails at night with the DD's on, the headlight beams are rather pointless. Where I travel and need these lights, I can count the oncoming traffic on one hand (on a reallllly busy night).

True that, my Escalade gets flashed every morning when I go to the airport and I never run high beams but we do have a few dips and valleys along the way. And they were re-aimed at the dealership and it still happens.

Gotcha, yeah the lows/highs don’t really add much with all these on. With only the fogs, the coverage is great on the road with the lows. The Offroad DD patterns are more focused. So the lows/highs just fill a little in between the combo and a spot patterns.

I spent waaaaay too many hrs researching lights before I went with this setup…

Thanks for this. I'm thinking the Max Fog in white and the Max combo for my capable bumper. After reading your post, I'm thinking the Max combo may be overkill as the Pros reach out and touch..

It really depends on your use/need. The combos aren’t street legal, have a taller and narrower pattern. For me I needed a legal SAE fog for street. Honestly the Pro spots didn’t add a whole lot after the Max Fog and Pro Combo. Don’t get me wrong, they added some distance, but I was already covering what I was looking for in the fog and combo sets. I’m happy with how the Pro combos compliment the Max fogs, esp. saving $200 on the price diff!

Yeah, $200 is a little more (upgrading the combos) but its a one and done purchase so the max SAE fogs and max combos are still not too bad. Three pairs of max's at a $600 upcharge ($400 in your case) eats into other toys for the truck for sure.

The combos really filled in the blanks with your fogs and since I'm limited to two lights in the capable bumper and was thinking of just the SAE fogs and combos, your post was quite timely.

Sure, other than this thread is about how some think the factory LEDs are garbage, and that those add-on lights are incredibly bright.

Myself, though I'm still waiting on my Bronco, I have driven Bronco's with both style headlights and compared to my Escalade, they are both lacking. I'm waiting on more reviews of the Oracle's to see if I want to go that route at some point. What I found in @Chritaka's post was what I have been toiling over for some time as I need a off road light combination for when I go bird hunting early in the am and come home late in the pm and his post cleared up a lot of questions/concerns.

I like my oracle triples..I just wanted better street lighting for my old eyes. Nobody has flashed me yet and as far as 3 lights and being illegal I think you need to do a lot nowadays to get pulled over. I have no front plate and tinted windows and nobody blinks. NJ inspection has become a joke so they only check emissions and gas cap. Nothing else is checked

I'm not very impressed with the low beams on my new bronco. I've done some research and came across your SS3 and Elite fog lights. Would adding either of your fog options supplement the throw of the factory low beams? The factory fogs give some peripheral light but nothing beyond a few feet of course. I'm hoping a much brighter fog will light up the road further than stock. I have a basic plastic bumper with factory fogs so I think either the Elite or SS3 versions will fit.

I have never experienced the added visibility that the SS3's they provide over the low beams. I am looking forward to see how they will help in the winter and in snow.

NOTE: Headlights that register 3,000K or 3,000LM are the brightest headlights you can legally install in your car. Anything beyond that level is typically against the law and you run the risk of blinding another driver and causing an accident.

Check the precise cutoff, they don't blind anyone if you aim them properly. DD also mentioned the same. You also won't get this precise of a cutoff with Rigid or Baja Designs, nor the power. The SAE Fogs also wouldn't meet the SAE J583 standard if they were blinding people. So Yes, other drivers ARE considered. Granted, I need to readjust my fogs since I lifted (I mentioned), which I did last night post seeing the raised elevation compared to my pre-lift alignment. My other SS3's are OFFROAD lights and are not ran on the street. I've never been flashed BTW...

Nice setup. Dumb question. But do you have each of the 3 sets of lights, hooked up to a different switch ?

I put the DD Elite Fogs in my (sorta) capable bumper and they're like night and day!!!
Who needs low beams?!?

At least in Texas, not quite how it works. They’re not illegal if over 3k lumens, they must just be properly aimed and that’s if over 300 candlepower (3,771
Lumens). Candlepower x12.57 = Lumens. This is also how the Max fog and driving are SAE compliant given the precise cutoff/pattern.
