Agree low beams r lacking. Got a badlands w capable bumper. Thinking of diode dynamics elite or ss3. What DD did u use & with what options?
I just went straight ss3 in amber. Easy plug in.

Below are some pics of 3 SS3 sets, Max and 2 Pro, mounted in my SRQ winch bumper.

1 set of SS3 Max amber fog pattern, no other lights… Aimed ~3” below low beams.

with low beams:

+1 more set SS3 Pros in combo pattern, low beams

+1 more set SS3 Pro in Spot pattern (so all 3 sets), low beam:

Amazing lights and I’m super happy with them. I purchased through @SPVPARTS during one of their sales and saved a good chuck of $$.

Are you guys taking about factory LED or halogens? My capable bumper fogs are normally on, but I can't complain to much on the LED low beams.
Maybe I don't know what I'm missing? I need to test drive an Audi.

I know this was meant to be mostly a flippant comment but it does have some merit.

Older folks developing cataracts slowly lose their vision and one of the early signs is having trouble driving at night.
I agree

Wow those are impressive. They'd definitely do the job. Can you run the fog ss3 max lights on the road with low beams? They almost look so bright they might blind oncoming traffic.

Yep, the Max’s are awesome and ride the line of being street legal… 😁 Pricey, hence why my other 2 Offroad sets are Pro’s. 😆

A couple quotes from DD’s site:

“SAE Fog uses our distinctive FineLine optic design, and provides an extremely wide field of view, with high-intensity output over an entire 80-degree spread. It serves as a great upgrade for any factory foglamp, and will fully illuminate the area in front of your vehicle. Choose your output color of cool white or yellow, which is often said to help cut through inclement weather.”

“Not just off road. Even with the SS3 Max’s extreme output, the Fog pattern meets the SAE J583 standard as a Foglamp, for legal on-road use. For states that require them, we also offer snap-on covers for your SS3 Pod. These covers are available in a variety of colors and keep your SS3 Pod clean and protected from dirt, dust, or whatever else the road throws your way! Please check your local laws and regulations for aiming, installation, and applicability.

Do you get high beam flashed when running the Max? How do the lower powered Pros compare in output?

The stock headlights on my Bronco are brighter than any other vehicle I have ever owned. The idea that they don't light up the road enough seems crazy to me.

The do not have much side spill though. Turns on dirt/rural roads leave much to be desired for visibility on the road you are turning onto. I need more light sideways, not forward.

And of course, in many states, driving with Fog lights on in non-inclement weather is illegal.
Totally agree on the side spill. I bought ditch light just to point them to the side. I can't even see to the side enough to spot my own driveway when turning left into it.

Yesterday I changed to Mod bumper from plastic and installed oracle triples with white. They are connected to my dash fog light switch. Night and day difference..pun intended.

Do you get high beam flashed when running the Max? How do the lower powered Pros compare in output?
They have a very fine cutoff line, so as long as you aim them properly you won’t get flashed.

The Pros are really good, especially for the price, and are probably more than enough for most. You can definitely tell a difference between them and the Max though. I also have SS3 Sports in my rear bumper for reverse/camp light, which are still better than the factory fogs.

There are quite a few YouTube vids and post on Toyota Tacoma/Tundra forums. There’s one where a guys test all the fogs and rates them. if I can find it I’ll post the link.

I'm coming from a bronco sport and Volkswagen GTI which both have significantly better headlights in both range and side spill.
the last couple of generations of the GTi have cornering lights that kick in automatically when turning.

i wouldn't be surprised if many of the complaints are from folks with lights that are improperly aimed from the factory.

Agreed. I was impressed with the factory headlights. The factory fogs…not so much.

Snapped a few more pics of my SS3’s by themselves. I probably need to adjust the SS3 Max amber fogs down a bit more since I lifted and put on 37’s.

SS3 MAX Amber SAE Fog only (notice how crisp the cutoff is):

You don’t happen to have a shot of low beams only vs lows and one pair of fogs do you?

I'd like to see a pic of low beams only too, if you would!
I'm impressed with the side lighting of your fogs. I was considering the combos, but it looks like the fogs will work better as 'deer' lights for back road driving (with traffic).

Now these are some absolutely Incredible output shots of our SS3 LED Pods

Once those SS3 Max fog lamps are aimed downward properly they'll be road-legal and ready to rock!
