Hello, all. I recently purchased the Gravity Titan 50” 8-light light bar. I’ve installed a couple other lights on my Bronco, but this is the first time I’ve installed a roof-mounted light bar.

I’ve watched a few videos on installing it, but still have some questions.

1. Is the wiring on the aux switches actually safe for this light bar? It seems like a lot of amperage. Just want confirmation from some people that I’m not going to set my car on fire, or how to avoid it. I know I’m going to have to use the relay KC provides but I’m specifically wondering about when the wires are joined together. Sorry, y’all—I don’t know a whole lot about electric stuff. My degree is in opera, lol.

2. How in the world am I going to wire it through the windshield to get down to the engine bay where the aux wires are? I know there’s a hole near the roof mount point, but I’m not sure how it’s supposed to get through the dash to the engine bay once it goes down the hole. Also, will I need some wire hider if it’s going that route?

Thanks, y’all. I’m learning all sorts of stuff about my Bronco and how to work on my own cars, but I’m still a little behind.

I've been looking at this as well lately. I'm curious about your findings.

As far as wire current, I don't know what the lights pull, but if it's more than the 50a #1 switch, a relay will certainly be necessary.

May not be a bad idea to run a relay regardless.

I can’t remember exactly how much the light bar pulls, but I remember it is more than the amperage on the aux 1 switch. It comes in the box with a relay, thankfully. I should be receiving the light bar kit tomorrow. I’ll let you know once I find out. Might wait a few days to install so I have more time to see what people on here say and rewatch some of the installation videos—plus, I’m waiting for some light covers and some wire hiders to arrive.

A relay will come with harness.

Titan bar (8 lights) pulls too many amps to use upfitter wire alone.
You will need to use relay.

This will show how to wire in harness with upfitters. (Method 2 in vid)

I installed same bar.

One more thing to add, be sure to follow torque for roof mounts

Thanks so much for the info and the video.

I must ask, and please forgive my ignorance… what do you mean when you say to follow the torque for roof mounts? I heard something about this recently and am afraid I’m not sure what that’s referring to. Is it in reference to how tight the light bar is mounted on the roof mounts?

There will be torque specs in either lb-in or lb-ft that you’ll need to adhere to. Do a quick youtube on torque wrenches and how to use them.

You may need to drill a hole in the plastic around the wipers to drop the wire down. Not a big deal.

As for the relay, once you hook it up you can use any aux switch you like. You’ll have power coming straight off the battery through an appropriately sized/fused wire and that wire is your actual power supply. The aux switch is simply powering an electromagnet that flips a contact and completes the circuit, sending power from the battery to the light. Just make sure you get a quality crimping tool and quality terminals Give them a good tug after crimping to make certain they’re tight. There are videos for that too!

I've run across three ways to bring the wire inside. There's fourth way where you run the wire down the A pillar on the outside.

1. The first is drilling the right side of the(or left if you're running new wire) roof mount bracket. Ford put a dimple where you drill a hole. Max diameter 7/16.

blumak3d has an excellent explanation on their site.
https://blumak3d.com/products/bluma...signs-squadron-sport-proleds-fits-ford-bronco

2. Another Ford method. This is a no drill method. Somewhere there's a video of a Heretic using this method. Run the wire through the weather stripping into the area above the windshield. Then pick up the wire there or run a new one. If you find the Heretic video I have a comment. I don't like how the guy splices wires.

https://performanceparts.ford.com/download/instructionsheets/IS_M-15200K-BRL_BRRL_9-1-22.PDF

Both 1 and 2 show a ground above the door behind the air bag.

3. Then there's this method that I haven't looked at very closely.

The KC light bar in question draws 26.32 A. The information is on the KC website.

The KC bar is already built so you just have to mount it up to your roof. As for wiring, run the wire harness down the windshield and use a KC Wire Cover to hide it. Then it goes under the cowl into the engine bay: https://www.4x4truckleds.com/kc-hilites-universal-wire-hider

I DO NOT recommend you drill through the roof. You need a large hole for the wires and it's tricky without the right tools. That's not just aluminum you are drilling up there but steel and it's TOUGH! You also have a hole in your roof now and you can't remove the light bar without having a hole in your roof.

A wire hider is the way to go.

This is the conclusion I’ve come to, as well. Lots of great ideas out there in this thread but this seems like the best idea to me. My KC wire hiders should come in tomorrow.

I didn’t use the KC wire hider and simply used a bead of clear silicone to keep the wire harness in place - works great and IMHO a stealthier install…

Anyone have a bracket option for installing the KC Hilites Titan with the factory roof rack?
