I think there are shenanigans going on here.

Nothing is wrong. It is the Black Appearance Package that is available on the Big Bend, OBX, and Badlands.

It eliminates the painted parts (mirror caps, door handles, flares) and replaces with MIC components. It also eliminates the awful 18" machine face wheels and replaces them with the Grabbers (formerly the optional wheels that were on the Black Diamond from earlier model years).

Overall, the Black Appearance Package is a loser on the OBX.

Yes. The aluminum wheels that were once the optional wheels. The standard black steelies on the Black Diamond was discontinued the model year before the trim itself was.

Have your friend take a picture of the grille. Supposedly the Black Appearance package replaces the grille with a black painted BD grill (unique to the Black Appearance package).

IMO, the Black Appearance package eliminates the attractive parts of the OBX. Paying for caps, handles, and flares to be painted is expensive and isn't worth the trade-off to MIC components.

That’s Strange?
I did a similar build on fords website and sure enough the flares are black but the handles are paint matched in the picture.
I don’t get why they didn’t just make the flares the Shadow black and door handles.

yea the Black Appearance package on an OBX is an odd option. Not sure why its even offered considering your still paying for all of the painted color matched things and then ADDING the option of having all of the MIC stuff put in their place.

Haha right! When I was first pricing up broncos, that option caught my eye. And then when I realized what it was I was like, there should be a black appearance package discount on the OBX!
