Sorry if I missed this; I did search around as this group helped disable my seat belt chime and "FOB in vehicle honk"; can the warning that your hands are off the steering wheel be disabled. I hold the wheel, left handed at 9 o'clock, probably cause I drive a manual as my other ride but no matter what at some point the red alert sounds, sure, I can jiggle the steering wheel but one day I figure I'll jiggle into the car next to me. Any one wanna help me save an insurance claim? Thanks in advance as always ! Sorry no pic, I didn't wanna crash snapping one and ya ll know what I'm talking about

That must be a "feature" for 2024 Broncos. I have a 2023 Badlands with manual transmission and I've never got a "Hands Off Steering Wheel" alert.

Do keep both hands on the wheel except when shifting? I do. It can be convenient to rest your hand on the shift know but it's a bad idea. First of all it's unsafe. Secondly it can accelerate wear on the shift forks and synchros.

I think if you turn off lane keeping assist it won’t bug you about hands on the wheel. I turned mine off first day with it and it hasn’t bugged me about hands on the wheel ever.

Thanks; at 60 I won't recount how many cars auto and manual I've owned, but my first was a stick and I do recall my father warning me not to "ride the shifter "(t shift in a Buick Regal with bucket seats ) ... I don't need 2 hands on the wheel all the time to keep a manual in check... cause if I did keep 2 on the wheel at 3 and 9, the warning would go off anyway.. explanation below makes sense

I have been curious where/what the sensors are because I always drive two hands at 10 & 2, but I occasionally get the warning. And I have huge hands, covering a lot of the wheel. I don't want to disable the lane assist, so I just put up with it. But if there is somewhere in forscan to disable only the wheel alert - I'm up for it.

Thank you ! I did find a feed on this topic once I posted my query ... although I got my OBX on 6/1/24; I already have a years worth of driving as I'm at 12,500 in less than 6 months; I find the lane departure/correction one of the single worst designed systems of its type on the road... but even though I saw the button to shut it down on the steering wheel I didn't ; now I will as it takes out 2 of the 5 most annoying elements of the Bronco...I already squelched the "double honk" and disabled the seat belt chime... the last is not correctable; that wonderfully vertical windshield; got my crack at 4k and kept on driving .. thanks again

It sense’s steering input from the driver not whether your hands are actually touching the wheel. These Broncos track so well that on a straight road very little input is needed to keep it straight, thus the computer assumes the driver is letting lane keeping drive it. If this were a jeep you would never get the warning as it’s a constant battle to keep that junk in its lane on the highway lol. (coming from a guy who has owned 5 jeeps)

I agree that the Bronco tracks very well. But I wish there was more steering feel. When I first got it I had to be careful about wandering out of my lane. My previous d/d is a WRX Subaru. It had much more steering feel.

Now that I'm used to the light steering of the Bronco I no longer drift out of my lane.

You don't want to jiggle the wheel. You just need to touch the wheel at 10 or 2 o'clock. The wheel has sensors.
