Hail damage dealer discount

For this particular case he should listen to the internet. That discount is simply not enough for a vehicle with an MSRP over $50k. Broncos are not scarce on lots anymore. For that money anyone should be able to get a clean new Bronco. Maybe the hail is limited to a few dents but I would want to see photos first and if the hood needs to be replaced then you are looking at likely worse paint as I'm sure the dealer won't be going out of their way to have a good shop work on it as it will be on the cheap.

Well aware that Bronco's aren't scarce anymore, I also know that most dealers are discounting below MSRP--the hail money should come off the lowest price after discounts and incentives (currently the only incentive on 2024 Bronco's for this region in Texas is $1K in conquest cash)...some markets are still selling well, so no other discounts are being given. I was only trying to tell the OP that HE needs to make the decision based on what he sees as a good value for the vehicle, and not rely on photos--hail damage doesn't represent well in a pic. As for the PDR, I believe AMRO (subsidiary insurance company of Ford) will usually bring in a vetted PDR crew to do the repairs--like I said earlier, usually better than factory when they are done.

I've not seen PDR in action, and the aluminum hood, is that an issue?. Doesn't PDR success also depend on the size, strength and number of the hail strikes? The one time I had a hail a damaged car I lived in 1980s Midland Texas and the hail was smaller and the hood was just totally pockmarked like the surface of the Moon and needed replacing. I decided to take the insurance money and install an air conditioner in the old Datsun, and over the next year or two the hail strikes did flatten out quite a bit on their own in the West Texas Sun.

Aluminum can be PDR repaired if it’s not too heavy of damage. A good PDR tech will get it so you won’t be able to see it was ever damaged. But it has to be a good tech who takes some pride in what he does.

I received this from the 2024 Bronco salesman

"The Bronco you chose does have hail damage. Great news is we are discounting the vehicle from $57,795 to $54,995 and we are going to fix the hail for you. "

If I buy a "repaired" new vehicle will that affect me in any way down the road?

A 5% discount off MSRP is not adequate for damage to a brand new car. There’s a dollar threshold that a dealer has to disclose damage to a previously untitled “new” vehicle otherwise they’d be selling new cars with significant crash damage from shipping or pre sale usage as new after repair. Check your state laws for that threshold. In many markets you can get 5% off list plus keep the rebate on a new, un-damaged Bronco, I’d counter back with at least 10% off sticker and they pass the rebate or incentive money back to you. Otherwise, shop around for a pristine, undamaged new Bronco or if you’re ok with a vehicle with “history”, buy a used one and negotiate for the Ford extended warranty plan and save a lot more money.

First, I d want to personally inspect the damage prior to them “touching/beginning” the repair. Second I d want to know if panels being replaced, hood, etc or if it’s a repair. If repaired then no bonddo, filler, etc.
I keep my vehicles for a long time so if everything done right I d consider buying the vehicle; however not at that discount. 10% would be the minimum or I d tell them “no thanks”!!

Fwiw I have yet to see a hard top damaged on one of these from hail.
Hoods take it the worst because they’re so flat and aluminum.
Most of the sides are flat and can be pdr but I just seen one in TX that was beat to crap and needed repair and paint work on the sides.

If the discount is given off list, it may not even be a discount, like you said. When I first started calling on dealers one of them had a pretty bad hail storm go through. I was visiting the store a couple of days after and said that it sucks that his inventory got beat up. He said it was actually a good thing, they would take the hail estimate off list price and most people didn’t try to deal beyond that. He kept the hail check, essentially getting full list for the car.

Seems like a fair deal to me, discount plus it will be repaired. Can't see PDR affecting value unless not done correctly. I just had almost $7k in PDR done on my pickup due to hail, looks brand new again.

$7k seems a fair amount for the dealer to give as discount, not $2800 lol Best to check the vehicle cuz I’m feeling like the damage is extensive, otherwise they would have fixed it and sold as new.

Same thing happened to me. Ordered a Black Diamond through Bill Utter Ford in Corinth TX. Waited a year and received notice it was ready. Told them I would pick it up the day after tomorrow. Big hail storm and they left it on the lot! Offered to fix it in house and I could pay full price or give me $2000 off. Told them to beat it and bought a Badlands with mid-lux package and 8,500 miles for $5000 cheaper. If anyone has this VIN 1FMEE1BP1RLA31188 it has been damaged by hail.

You can now find used Broncos for a great price point, don't deal with the dealership. Walk away.

I live a few blocks from Bill Utter (they move a lot of Broncos) and they don't have the carports other dealers right here have, so yeah almost all their cars are susceptible to hail damage. Big reason why I don't just let them keep mine for service work. They really should get the awnings.

It almost sounds like they offered to fix it at MSRP or discount $2k and you get it fixed? Is that right?
