I have a 24 2 door big bend and recently in the last snow and ice storm the snow ice and water crushed my fuel lines over the top of the tank. During this repair which was 800 out of pocket (ford claimed outside influence) i also noticed that the high velocity water coming off the right front tire was eroding the rock guard off the front of my tank. I believe this is an engineering issue has anyone else had similar issues?

Haven't ever heard of this as an issue.

I believe this is an issue that affects two-doors specifically as the tank is more exposed than on the four-door. I think two door owners need to inspect this area to see if there's any damage.

Alright, 4-Doors get a win!

Interesting. Water is abrasive, but I imagine a big chuck or several chunks of ice coming off could do something like that .

Thanks for bringing attention to it for the group as this is a first, I believe.

My 2 door is fine; it gets inspected after every wheeling trip. I'm over 3 years now.

The erosion of the tank guard/heat sheild is not really the problem its the fuel lines that got crushed over the top of the tank and had to be fixed.

I would think it would have to have had an impact to do such a thing 🤷‍♂️

I was driving in an ice storm taking nurses to and from the hospital, on untreated roads, the snow and slush from the road pushed the fuel lines over the top of the tank and also damaged the pad, I'm going to say it was the high velocity of water and slush coming off the front tire, I would like to add that my top speed was about 35 when this happened.
