Once you get to be as old as I am (if you are extremely unlucky!), you will find out that comfort is the most important part of your life. Bouncing around in a Tudor Bronco is NOT comfortable for the old and battered body. Enter big GSDs (they like to have their doors for comfort too!), and Tudor just doesn't cut it. Long time ago I was forced to ride a short bus to school, and I swore when I grow up I never will. Now that I can freely choose which one I'll ride, I choose the one with as many doors as possible (you never know when an extra exit can save your skin).
