Hi all. I have posted a few questions about the forscan app and changing the speaker settings once I install the kicker pods. Wondering if anyone near Melbourne Fl would mind lending me hand when I’m ready since I have terrible luck with computer stuff and dont need to crash the computer on my bronco. Happy to throw a few bucks for the inconvenience. Thanks.

There is only one line you HAVE to change in the as built for adding a sub/speakers. Some others are optional.

Follow @RagnarKon 's video and you should be well prepared, as long as your OBDII plug is good to go.

Thank you. Do you have a recommendation for the obdii plug? Does it matter between Mac and non Mac laptop. I went in the Forscan site but was a little co fused in what to buy and says not all options available for Mac I beleive.

Pretty sure Windows laptop is required. I'm not an Apple person, so I haven't researched their use.

As for plugs, I bought this one.

Yup Forscan is Windows only.

If you have the older x86-based Macs that used to run Intel processors you can install Windows in a virtual machine or via Boot Camp.

But the newer Apple Silicon Macs will not work without a bunch of work-arounds and tricks. Technically possible if you get Windows 11 ARM and a few emulation layers running. But it's kinda hacky and not very stable.

Yes, there's no need to leave it plugged in. I keep mine in my glovebox unless I'm using it.

And my Banks iDash stays plugged into the OBDII port fulltime anyway.

Virtualbox and Hiren's BootCD combo works just fine on macos and it is less intrusive than Bootcamp. Both are free software.

If you go to the Forscan forums they have a list of verified and recommended adapters. I’ve had good luck with OBDLink MX+, but there are less expensive models that work

And yeah, just about any laptop running almost any version of Windows (not Windows Home S though) made in the last 20 years will work fine

Mac can work but you need to jump through hoops - not worth it unless you just want the street cred of saying you did it

Put the battery on a charge tender or trickle charger before you start, just in case … that’s really about it.
