So I purchased the Ford winch from the Ford Accessories shop with a good coupon from Ford. Dealer installation was cheaper than the last one I had installed at a local off-road shop (another Bronco), so it seemed like an easy choice. Now I find out the dealer has NEVER installed a winch on a Bronco. This is a big dealer in a large Midwest city. I guess all the Broncos they’ve been selling only go to the mall?
What’s everyone one’s thoughts of being a Guinea pig?
Anyone have issues with dealer installed winches?

I wouldn’t sweat it. I was the guinea pig for my own install, with a lot fewer tools available. The one thing I’d check after install is the wiring - you can eyeball their wiring and compare it to the instructions. That was a difficult part and if a wire frays inside your engine bay it could be trouble.

It's not difficult to install at all.

Maybe a new-to-the-industry lube tech would have issues doing the install, but any semi-competent mechanic with some experience will have no issues.

I wouldn't sweat it, either.
If the person doing the install has questions they have a shop full of other techs to get assistance from, not to mention a direct line to Ford corporate tech support.

It's hardly rocket surgery.

I’m sure if they cannot figure out how to install it properly, how will they figure out how to use it…

Yah there’s a in/out button but nothing about ā€˜rigging’. Lol

Instead of paying for install, I bought myself a cordless impact gun. Turning tools for fun is good for the soul. My therapy session will begin as soon as all the parts have arrived.
