First highway trip 11.9 mpg!!!

My wife has a crv and gets 31mpg. So I guess that’s why in into mpg more than I should be

did more testing.
at 56 mph I got 18.9 mpg
At 60 mpg I get 17.6 mpg

crazy 4 mph drops it 1.3 mpg

if your car is 30 mpg. Yes 1.3 is no biggy

a18 mpg car that’s like a 7% decrease over 4 mph

My message to ford. Design a 11 speed trans with an extra over drive to get 1500 rpm at 75 mph. Every state is 70/75 mph. Why not base mpg around it. Or maybe we get jimmy carter back and force speed limits back to 55 mph

Your mpg will be based on various factors, some of which you can control such as driving the speed limit, using start/stop and cruise control and driving conservatively. Other factors beyond your control include topography and environment such as driving into a head wind. Your vehicle is new so give it some time. My driving habits and topography yielded 17.9 mpg over the first 7000 miles on my Raptor. Of course most of that was flat country highways at 55 to 60 mph.

These EcoBoost engines love to spin. A lower gear with higher RPMs will likely yield better fuel economy than a higher gear with lower RPMs. It is all about keeping it out of boost.

If you are going to go down the rabbit hole, then watch your boost gauge.

Otherwise, just drive and enjoy your Bronco. The whining about fuel economy is tiresome around here.

C’mon man you should know this by now, it’s a brick that you are driving.
For Jeeps & Broncos calculation goes spg smiles per gallons not mpg.

Even Ford can’t do anything about fuel economy that’s why they created baby bronco with 29mpg for mpg conscious consumer.

Mine's not a Raptor, but I average 17.5 - 18 mpg at 80. on the open road with the 2.7.

I did get 12 mpg on one highway trip, but that was pulling a 2500 lb. box trailer at 80.

Also keep in mind that mileage will tend to improve (slightly) after you get a few thousand miles on the clock.

A Bronco is not very aerodynamic. You will never see the same mileage as a sleeker vehicle no matter what engine they put in one.

Gt500 gets 24mpg on long trips

My GT500 comes in at 12.5mpg on trips and I've done half a dozen ~1,200 mile, straight through drives with it. I hauled ass throughout. I have no clue how you could possibly get 24mpg.

Gt500 at 65 mph is at 1500 rpm in 6th gear

It’s rated at 24 highway also I believe.

Don’t blame Jimmy for the double nickels. It was Tricky Dick who imposed 55 during the first energy crisis. Nixon actually wanted 50 as the national speed limit. Think how miserable that would have been, driving just slightly faster than the top speed of a model T.

Your engine is still new as well so rings are still introducing themselves to cylinder walls, bearings are breaking in, etc...your mileage will likely improve over the next 10-20K miles as cylinder sealing improves.

My worst is around 12mpg driving with the entire top off into a strong headwind. I typically hover in the 14's. I don't notice much difference in mileage between 70 and 75mph but I do notice an increase using 93 over 87.

I guess I feel blessed. My avereage over the first three weeks of ownership and 1500 miles already I have kept about a 17.5 on the freeway and 15 in town. The biggest drain on your mileage is the turbo and monitor your boost/vacuum gauge. Keep it out of PSI and in Vacuum and your numbers will increase. Hammering the throttle with this will definitely drain the tank faster. My work week is approx 300 miles of freeway and 200-ish town/city stoplight driving. My Wildtrak I was able to average 20+. It wasn't hard to find the good manner of driving, but boy it sure took the fun out of it!

These are EcoBoost engines. Want Eco? Keep it out of Boost. Over 70, and you'll see the fuel economy take a hit.

I'm not so sure on the over 70 part. I think the gearing comes into play here. My 2.3L 2-door manual "base for 2024" Big Bend with a 4.46 axle ratio is currently averaging 21.1 MPG, with mostly Interstate travel (easily 70 mpg). Tire size, footprint and weight (ie: 4-door with all the toys) and gear ratios play into this in a big way.

‘23 BB Sas 4dr V6. 19.6 not in suburban driving. Get up on the Interstate and every 5 mph over about 55 costs me about .50 mpg. 75 mph is my sweet spot, average about 18 at that speed. Over 75 the Bronco’s “brick house” aerodynamics and rolling resistance of the 35” tires kills mileage. 80 mph on cruise control nets about 16 mpg plus with the soft top it sounds like your in the vortex of a tornado! If getting there quickly is the mission, we take my wife’s MDX.

it’s a $90,000 bronco. Obviously I can afford whatever it is. Just shocking for a 3.0 v6

ford should have done a v8. We’d be doing better w performance and mileage.

The Hellcat and the GT500 aren’t shaped like bricks. Not unsurprising they get better mileage. Also with how their transmission gearing ratios and such are designed for the overdrive aspect.

And again, they’re aerodynamic not like a brick.
