Farewell, Miss my Bronco

Well, I traded my 2022 Bronco Sasquatch 2 door, V6 a couple of months ago, so I am saying farewell. I was fairly active on the forum and looked forward to the posts. I miss the Bronco the day I traded it and more every single day. I had a rare unicorn. I ordered it at the reveal. I so wished I did not trade it in but I made a hasty decision and regret it. I retired from my work- engineer after 51 years of working non stop only taking minimal PTO, never missed a beat. I could not take by boss anymore and was at full retirement age. I was under pressure to make a change for a vehicle that better suited our lifestyle. We needed a pick up and that's what we got- a 2025 Ford F150 STX 4 x 4. With the same 2.7 V6 the Bronco had. I wanted a Chevy Silverado real bad but had to get an LT in order to get telescoping steering. Sometimes sucks being so tall with log legs, LOL. BTW Ford offers telescoping steering on every platform of their trucks. The Chevy LT would have set me back at least 15K more than the Ford, probably even more as I wanted the Trail Boss. Now I have to look up to all the Chevys as the Ford F150 sits at least a couple inches lower, like 4 inches to the TB.

The F150 is OK, adequate I would say- it's super comfy and I fit nicely with my long legs at least. But it's so big and not as nimble as the Bronco and much less fun to drive. It's got much less zip than the Bronco and does not get as good MPG. I really thought the F150 would do better than the Bronco, I was very mistaken. (I had a MBRP CAT back on the Bronco though- really helped with performance and MPG).

I was already scoping out a 2 door Sas with 2.3 and manual transmission. Kind of hard to find and I worry it will be a slouch on the road and compared to the V6 I had and not get 23 MPG. I do love manual transmission though. I might offer the F150 to my wife as a freebie (she likes it) and maybe get me another Bronco, who knows.........I would have to sell one of my classic vehicles but already thinking about it.

Oh you'll be back! Take a spin in the 2 door 2.3 7mt sasquatch...it's no 2.7 but it's no slouch. The 7MT is SO much fun.

Best wishes in your retirement and as @PWillette said, the 2.3 is not something to underestimate comparatively.
I have the 2.7 but have driven the 2.3 manual.
It would not be a factor for me personally if the right 2 door build was sitting there to be had and it had the 2.3. They are proven engines for quite some time now.
It's a mental thing with us "older folks" because I think part of us equates 4 cyl engines with a 1981 Citation or a Ford Tempo and we remember the good old days when a 455 Pontiac put out a whopping 180-200 horses but sounded oh-so-much better than the 4-banger.
Instead of goodbye we shall say "see ya later, JT".

You have to do what's best for you. In the end and in retirement, the amount of cars you own, won't make much difference.
As the owner of a 2023 2 door base SAS, I'm curious on how well or bad you did on your trade if you don't mind answering.

A tuned 2.3 makes about the same power as the stock 2.7 and you still have the benefit of the proper gearbox.

I don't feel underpowered with my Badlands Nonsquatch 2.3/7sp/4.70 on 33's.

Not sure why people think the 2.3 will be a slouch when it has more power and torque than any factory engine offering in 1-5 gen broncos...

F150 is the benchmark of fullsize truck period. I owned ram, gm, Nissan, Toyota and Ford.
None of them will tick the boxes like f150.

For bronco get newer 2.3, this engine is way better than v6 in my opinion.

I did pretty good on the trade in. I paid 38,500 for it almost 4 years ago and got pretty much that for it. I traded my daily driver in too and netted almost 8K back to me rhe dealer had to write me a check. So I got a brand new F150 and a check for almost 8K. Not too bad I guess. I stayed in touch with my sales guy and they sold my Bronco in just 3 days.

Best wishes in your retirement and as @PWillette said, the 2.3 is not something to underestimate comparatively.
I have the 2.7 but have driven the 2.3 manual.
It would not be a factor for me personally if the right 2 door build was sitting there to be had and it had the 2.3. They are proven engines for quite some time now.

interesting on the HP though and you are right. One of my classics is a 94 Mustang GT 5.0. 5 speed manual. Sounds so good with CAT back exhaust and factory headers…..but only puts out 215 HP stock. So anemic by today’s standards. A Civic or Corolla have just about that lol. So the 2.3 in a Bronco 2 door with 300 HP and manual might be just fine. And will smoke the 94 GT too most likely!

Coming from someone that had a 400 RWHP 2.7 Bronco and now owning a 2-Door 2.3 MT, I can say it's not fast, but it gets up to speed just fine. Sport mode is actually a lot of fun. I'm starting the custom tuning process, so getting her up another 100 RWHP will feel really good

FWIW, run the VIN and see if it is still on a lot somewhere. Then buy it back. Problem solved.

Horsepower changes every year. Remember when in the 70/80's we thought those muscle cars were the sh1t?

It sold almost immediately. 2 door V6 in immaculate condition with only 18K miles.

The F150 is sure nice but is not the Bronco. I test drove the 5.0 with 400 HP and preferred the 2.7, it felt lighter in the front. The F150 is what we needed for our trips (with me retired) and traveling with kayaks and paddle boards. The 2 door Bronco was just too small.
