Not sure if this is the right forum, but was wondering if anyone has any advice on how I can retrieve a socket I dropped between what seems to be the engine compartment and the front quarter panel. Sounded like it fell a little ways down the side. Is there any way I can go through the tire well? Any advice would be appreciated.

Magnet on a stick?
I couldn't angle a stick in the narrow gap, so I tried a magnet on a string with no luck. I did verify the socket is ferrous. Maybe I should buy a Flexible scope to see if I can spot it.

Lol. On a related note, I tried to remove the fender and after turning the latches, the front part of the fender came loose but the back did not. I'm scared to death of pulling too hard an d breaking some irreplaceable bracket. Am I'm doing something wrong?

It’s not really lost or missing.

Remove the flare and a few of the annoying plastic screwish retainers on the fender skirt at the bottom rear and it'll probably fall out.

Remove the tire and fender liner (splash shield). 4 screws and a dozen push pins. No matter where it is, you will be able to reach it, assuming is doesn't just fall out.

As long as all of the latches are fully turned, just pull hard straight out. Expect a loud pop/bang when it lets loose.

What is this mysterious 10mm you keep talking of?
The 9/16th of the metric world. Frequent use and tend to disappear like a fart in the wind when you need them the most...
