Driver side, front seat, discomfort

So I’m just getting the 1000 mile oil change done after having it for 3 to 4 weeks but I’m having a real difficult time trying to get the seat so that it doesn’t hurt my shoulder blades. If I don’t get it fixed soon or adjusted soon I’ll need to go see a chiropractor each week, I gotta be doing something obviously wrong.

A lot of folks have had issues with the seat. It took me a while and a lot of trial and error to find "the spot" that works for me, I admit.

Two common fixes you can try:

A lot of folks have had luck with seat jackers - these are spacers that you install under the front seat bolts to help recline the entire seat back a bit. (Desert Does It sells an official kit, I used a stack of washers).

For me, the trick was that I had to elevate the seat a lot higher than I was used to driving in other vehicles. Once I cranked the seat up and got over the low-rider mentality I had, things got a lot more comfortable. The downside is I can't see traffic lights for crap.

Double check posture I had to adjust setting to upright coming from S550 Mustang which was angles back more.

I was having trouble getting comfortable at first too. Agree with this.

I have the power seats, so am able to raise it up, that is what seemed to get me closest to being comfortable. I looked at another vehicle, 04 Jeep TJ. The previous owner put on seat jackers (not sure of the brand). I was comparing the two vehicles and that's when I tried raising the Bronco seat.

I'm 6' and am used to lowering seats as much as possible. For the Bronco, had to raise it to get my legs at a better angle instead of straight out. I raised the steering column almost as high as it will go, enough to clear my legs when moving from the gas to brake pedal.

I think I have opposite advice from others. Lower the seat, so you get as much thigh support as possible. And recline more than I would in other cars due to headrest and lumbar.

And don't go to chiropractors, try a real doctor.

For most cars, I sit like being in a cockpit and slightly laid back - almost like I'm sitting in a recliner.

In the Bronco though, it's like My Fair Lady posture - back straight, hips at almost 90°, arms straight ahead. It doesn't look like it would be comfortable at all, but somehow, it works for me with the way the Bronco cockpit is set up.

Also the manual seats have a raise up and down as well. Power is certainly easier though

Even though I am 6' tall, I like to sit as close and as upright to the steering wheel as possible. Short arming it to keep shoulders back. MT 3 pedals. Learned this posture as a kid in my dad's '68 Bronco. With my BD, lots of manual lumbar input for my back. I just gotta be careful to keep from hitting the headlights switch with my knee getting in.

Is it the way the seat is putting pressure on your shoulder blades? Or lack of pressure? Or the position of your arms while holding the wheel? I’m trying to game this out in my head because for all my various aches, I’ve never had that one.

In case you missed it, the steering wheel is telescopic, so you can move it closer to you or further away without changing seat position.
