Downgrade/upgrade?: 2D 2.3 Manual from 4D 2.7 Auto

I’m thinking of swapping my 4D Black Diamond (Automatic 2.7 engine) for a 2D Badlands (Manual 2.3). I do a lot of offroad/gravel/mud driving. not a daily driver. just my fun rig. Anyone have experience driving both engines? Any thoughts or comments before I commit?

Base Badlands but manual had same ratios as SAS. Lifted BD

Always regretted not getting 2R. Manual is definitely bonus. Have you driven both engines? I’m I going to be disappointed?

2dr 2.3 auto BD and I absolutely love it. I wanted a manual but wasnt an option with my configuration. Wouldve had to step up to BL to get one but wasnt worth the additional cost to me.

2D 7MT is my favorite. I had to settle for 4D - don’t regret it, but in a few years when I get the itch to do another build I hope I can find a 2D 7MT

Trim doesn’t really matter to me - only thing you really can’t add after the fact is 4A and, while I admit it would be nice, I don’t exactly miss it.

Depends on your wheel and tire choice. Not all 35s are the same. My 35x10.5s on 17x8.5 +25 wheels required front crash bar removal. Others say they didn’t need to remove them. Depends on use case too I suppose.

My buddy has a MY22 Wildtrac 4-door and a MY23 2-door Nosquatch badlands with the 2.3l auto he added 37" and he loves the thing. the 2.3 even in my Bloated Glades is a great little motor.

Upgrade IMO. I’ve driven both. Own a 2 door, manual Badlands.
