Door Installation!

I've not done a 4 door, but have done a 2 door by myself many times. The doors on the 2 dr are longer and heavier, so it seems the 4 door would be easier. The issue I have with this video is the guy stands on the outside of the door to remove and replace. That makes no sense to me. The hinges are on the inside. It's easy to see what you are doing when standing on the inside, not so much on the outside. I'm certainly not going to remove the bolts and then walk around to the other side, or vice versa. Stand on the inside where the hinges are.

Again, I only do the bigger and heavier 2 doors, but I see no reason to stand on the outside to make things more difficult.

Also, the ratchet in the kit works fine. Just tighten the bolts.

On the 4dr I can remove all doors by myself with the Ford door bags. Those bags are excellent IMO.

To install the 4dr doors I can do the rears alone with little problem. The fronts are heavier and I prefer to have an extra set of hands just lifting the door bag from the top handle to take a bit of weight off of it. But you should handle the placement. The extra hands are only to take the weight off, not to guide it. And the extra hands should be on the outside.

Use the edge protectors on the front doors. I don’t use them on the rears.

And as others have said, leave the guide pins threaded but loose. Don’t tighten at all.

I've learned my lesson. I wish I would have heard "if the door clicks, tighten it" first. I heard "if the door clicks, it is on wrong." So of course I kept trying to adjust it therefore more room for error/scratches. I had it on right, I just needed to tighten it.

I am in the same boat.. Unfortunelty wasn't carful enough when taking off my doors off last weekend and scuffed both passenger and driver doors. Just picked up touch up paint from my local dealer and waiting for the clear coat to dry. hopefully it isn't that visible afterwards.

The is the same spot on my front passenger door. I also bought touch up paint (primer and clear coat too). Good luck.
