Definitely buggy. Add it to the list of 1st year crap we have to deal with.

Yeah I was a bit disappointed when I heard how this worked. I haven't had a chance to experience it with the Bronco, but my Mazda was beautiful.

You shut the door and as you walk away the car honks and it locks itself. You walk back up to the car press the button on the handle and it unlocks. Keys never have to come out the pocket.

Sounds like the Bronco is supposed to be similar except that you have to push the button to lock the doors instead of unlocking, and grab the handle to unlock but not to lock.

The unlocking is flawless and works like you describe. I just can't get the thing to re-lock after exiting a lot of times.
I just use the key fob. I haven't even tested out the button other than noticing it reacts when I brush my microfiber cloth over it. 😯

True, but partially incorrect-

EDIT: For some reason, these handles require a touch of the inside portion before touching the lock button. Sort of like an "unlock clear" thing

Not at all true.

I have been simply tapping the lock nub on the outside of either the driver or cargo door handle and successfully locking the vehicle just fine. You do not need to grab the handle.

I like being able to leave my fob in my pocket at all time though, and I'm used to locking with the 7/8-9/0 buttons with a keypad so the "button" on the handle feels like a very natural evolution of that.

I started doing that, just tapping it and keeping the rest of my hand away and it's been working. The wrap around seemed to be the cause of my issues.

That's how I thought it worked and what I did for the first week. Turns out I was just leaving it unlocked.

I just press the door lock button on the inside of the door as I'm exiting and shut the door. Works every time.
I started doing that when pushing the button on the front of the handle does nothing. In fact shouldn't that just be a dummy cover for manual key operation?

Unlocking I just tap the handle, but wish it worked on rear doors when hands are full and I want to put stuff in the back seat

I've realized after months that the inside of the handle is the unlock sensor, and the impression of a button is the lock sensor.
Don't grab the handle, and it'll make locking a bit easier, but still, not flawless.
