I had a flat tire on Christmas on my way home. I had to change it along side the freeway so I could get home. After a couple of revolutions it picked up the tire pressure from the spare I had to install.

If it did not have a TPM sensor, I can't figure out how it did that.

Yes it does. The service advisor probably told you "durrrr the pressure don't show on the screen because there is no tpms". Drive it a few miles and it wakes up the tpms.

Idk what it is with dealerships and the gd tpms sensors in the spare.

You have a tpms in the spare.

Im triggered because my dealership and I got into a heated debate about this 2 weeks ago lol.

Even if you find a dealership that won't argue about it they still might not be able to ring it up properly. Took my bronco to the dealership at 10k miles and they did it no problem, when I went back to pick it up they charged me $150 or so for it. I flipped out and the lady at the counter finally figured out they charged me for a dually tire rotation and they ended up knocking it down to $70 which was still insane imo. Just hit 20K a month or so ago and took it to our local Discount Tire. Much quicker service and the price was great. They don't charge anything, even if you didn't buy the tires there.

Has the sensor as others stated. The only time the 5 tire rotation doesn’t make sense if if there is an extra costs that eventually outweighs the 20% extra tire life rotating it in each time.

I have had one or two occasions when the sensor for the driver side rear was picking up the spare instead of the tire on there. I only noticed that because I had dropped tire pressure to 20 psi for off road use and the one was showing 38 for a while. I have a 4-tire deflator system, so I know they all should have been the same.

In any case, I have the dealer do a 5-tire rotation every time I get my Bronco serviced and most of the time everything works just fine.

Just dropped my 2023 Badlands off for service (dealership), having them change oil and rotate tires also. Asked for 5 tire rotation and told no because the spare does not contain TPMS.

Is this true and, if so, what's involved with taking the sensor from one of the tires and installing on the spare?
TY.

Edit: Thanks to everyone for the replies. I informed the dealership, got the 5 tire rotation done, spare tire sensor works fine. On a related note: my passenger side roof panel was hard to remove and I was told this is not adjustable. It is. Had to inform the dealer how to do it.
I’m at the dealership as I write this. Just got into an argument with the service advisor over this same topic. First he tried to say it didn’t have a sensor then it was “Ford doesn’t recommend 5 tire rotation.” I asked him how long he has worked in service because one it does have a sensor and two the owners manual specifically states 5 tire rotation is the recommendation. I told him I would be happy to pull it up and show him. Then he tried to say I have to pay extra for 5 tire rotation. Umm no. This is the recommended service per Ford I will not be paying extra.

Santan Ford in Gilbert, AZ charges a $20 premium if I remember right to do the 5 tire rotation. I didn't make a big deal out of it since I'll probably only rotate 3 or 4 times I imagine maximum before I swap the tires out anyway. Their service rate was pretty cheap otherwise (less than $100 for an oil change, rotation and inspection) which also made me less likely to be annoyed.

I figure a set of 5 tires for the Raptor is at least ~$1800 plus installation, so not going to lose sleep over an extra $60 to $80 to prolong wear slightly.

I have similar problems with the dealership where I brought my Bronco, but I have known they are a problem for years. It's my practice walk up to the service desk while quoting the owners manual to them. When the Bronco's warranty expires, I will bring it to my regular mechanic.
