As a jeep owner more than once - wave, duck whatever. When I had my 60 Ford 150 and then my 67 IH Scout I returned thumbs up and turned down offers to sell as no one else I passed had either one. During our FJ Cruiser days no one waved very much unless they were modded or at the FJ summit in Colorado. Personally I enjoy the camaraderie that waving and ducking brings. I guess those are Jeep things. I suppose once we get our Bronco and sell our Jeep we are expected to put a stick up our butt and be anal. Like others have said, wave if you want to and don't if you don't want to participate. We have a Bronco Raptor on order so maybe the Raptor folks will be more receptive to a wave or maybe not.

Lots of snowflakes getting butt-hurt in this thread. Bottom line is YOU do what YOU want to do in the moment. I thought this thread was funny until the snowflakes got all hurt about it. Sheesh.

If someone waves at me I'll wave back no matter what they are driving. It's a courtesy thing that I have seen people around here do since I was little.

And every once in a blue moon I will give someone a thumbs up if I really, really like their car. Though this is usually reserved for well restored classics.

But I've already seen people selling "You've been bucked" tags and the like, just please no. Stop.

Never said I didn’t wave back. I’m only an Asshole on here. Of course I return the wave. But it’s weird…. I’m in south Florida. Where the further south you go the further north you are. Iykyk

Have not received any waves from Wrangler riders, however the majority of them do perform the “ head twist” as I ride buy.

I'm a jeep owner right now. I love the wave honestly. When I got my first jeep at 18 I wasn't told about the wave. Finally I had a friend who had a jeep and he's like are you waving? It hit me hard that it was a thing. When I got my new jeep I was super excited to be back to waving. I have my duck from a few years ago. Love it. Honestly I think its fun and a neat thing that Wrangler people do.

I’m not saying to “not” wave back- but man, I can’t do the Jeep thing anymore. I kid you not, there’s a least 10 Jeeps in every parking lot here and I see at least 5 on each and every short drive I make. You get worn out watching for hands up at every stoplight.

Yesterday I dropped my kiddo off at swim lessons (a trip that’s 1.5 miles one way) and 6 people waved along the way. I need a break.
I completely understand that. I think someone else commented on a similar feeling coming from a MINI.
On my motorcycles I would wave at anyone, sport bike or cruiser.
In my BMWs I started off waving, but then the number on the road started exploding, and there was no real sense of community. I still wave at other e3x variants, since it's getting more rare to see them still running well and looking good.
I'm sure in the Bronco I'll be waving, and always returning a wave, but as the number on the road grows the uniqueness of the community may wear off.

Are the 'snowflakes' for or against the wave? ...and congrats on the most 'butt-hurt' reaction in the thread so far....

I wave in all vehicles at all vehicles, because that’s what we do in farm country. My step dad from the city thought everyone was flipping him off lol.
I grew up in a SMALL town in SC. Everyone did the 'finger wave'. One or two fingers raised off the steering wheel. My ex-wife, the first time she went back home with me - "Who is that? Why did you wave at them?"

I road sportbikes on my daily commute for years. Rain or shine. My limit was 33 degrees (black ice, ruined underwear, don't ask). There was this young kid who rode a scooter. I leave EARLY for work, and I'd see him once or twice a week. One time he commented at the gas station that he really liked my bike. A few days later I gave him the biker wave. It kind of became this thing, I'd see him pretty regularly. A year or so later, I'm sitting on my bike, gassing it up when a sport bike pulls up, stops - rider slides open his shield and says "It's a helluva a lot better than a scooter huh?"

Turns out his parents didn't approve of him wanting a motorcycle. They told him if he could buy it himself, pay insurance etc - he could get one. So he bought a scooter. Used it to go back and forth to work (before and after school). He saved and he bought his own bike. Gotta respect that.

You missed the sarcasm. Around here pointing out potholes would require both hands off the handlebars (and that is sarcasm also)
Sorry that I didn't pick up on it. I'm kinda slow that way.

I personally haven't seen many Broncos on the road in my area of Houston. It's strange. That said I'm usually paying more attention to the road and the traffic on either side of me than the oncoming traffic and it's drivers to notice a wave. My bad guys.

Yeah I don’t initiate, but wave back no matter who it is. It’s just a nice thing to do.

6 waves? Have you recovered yet?

A wave is sometimes based on commonality and appreciation between drivers. In my old CJ, I'll nearly always get a wave from an old Scout, Bronco or FJ owner. Because we all know what it takes to keep one of those on the road, and have an appreciation for older vehicles.

A new Bronco or Jeep owner buying for pavement use? I don't have much in common with those guys, leastways it's not why I got into 4x4s. I'll wave back though if they initiate.

I did stop by a new Bronco the other day, to chat with the owner. I can appreciate Ford produced this nice 4x4.
