My first MINI in 2003 we all waved. When I bought another one in 2019, nobody did. That flip from uncommon to common did in the culture.

Waving to other Broncos is a thing around here, at least for most of us. Nothing wrong with that. As more come out, that will change but I like it for now.

In my EB, you never see another in the wild unless you go to an event. I give a thumbs up to anyone driving older iron in the wild no matter the make or model. There so few of us out there that are 70s or older. As others said, it called being part of a community or having a common interest.

Is it mandatory? i always thought that was weird. so far ive seen a couple broncos on the road and a couple times they flashed lights or waved. I thought that was just a jeep thing
Do what makes you feel good. I’ve had many Vettes through the years and it’s a vette thing as well.
I do it it doesn’t bother me.

Kinda weird watching all the "down low waves". It's like, what are you pointing at?
Maybe I'lll but some spring mounted hands for all of my vehicles.

I'm with you. It's not a Ford vs Jeep thing.. it's a lifestyle thing. Bronco guys and Jeep guys both appreciate the same way of life whether their money goes to Mopar or Fomoco.

I didn't plan out what I was going to do when I got my first 'Jeep wave', but when it came... I returned the friendly gesture and thought it was a cool thing to do. After that, I honestly think not returning a 'Jeep wave' is kind of a dick move. Why be all stuck up when someone is just trying to tell you they appreciate your ride?

Not that I'm going to go around 'ducking' anybody... but if I ever get ducked... I'll take it as another friendly gesture... not a Broncos-are-better-you-Jeep guys thing.

Incidentally, in the first week I had my Bronco, I got in a real sketchy situation in deep snow on a mountainside before I could get my winch mounted. You think I could sit around and wait for a Bronco to show up to lend a hand? Nope. 50x more Jeeps out there to give you a tug than there are Broncos... just sayin'.

As a huge vintage Ford guy, I openly give Chevy owners shit... but in reality... I respect that they're a classic car guy rather waving my Ford fanboy flag in their face.

Besides, Ford built a lot of M151 'Jeeps' for the military over the years... so there's a lot more stuff that we have in common than most of us seem to be willing to admit. ✌
Some people just have no joy in their hearts...and you shouldn't hang out with them....

Yep. One day. When the time is right. Over a cold beer.

Reminds me of this girl I liked in high school. I waved at her once. She didn't wave back. I was crushed. She's old now, so kinda glad it worked out that way.
You are old now, also.

I don’t see the wave as a jeep thing. I’ve experienced waving in every enthusiast car I’ve owned starting with my saabaru (get waves from wrx and 92x drivers), the 135, the gti, and now the bronco. I think it’ll be common until you can walk into a dealership and buy one. I like it.

On the other hand, I have zero interest in crap being placed on my car expecting me to reciprocate

It's pointing out the potholes so your bike doesn't get swallowed by the pavement and you with it.

It should be viewed as a common courtesy acknowledgement of "hey, you have a nice vehicle, good choice" and that can be to the guy and his wife driving around in a clone of Christine (beautiful 57-58 red Fury)

I have waved/nodded/thumbs-up at the few other new Broncos I encounter and rarely get a return. Early on I know it was , hey. Is that what I think it is. And then too late.

Rather than wave, how many have been tempted to chase down the other 6g owner just to connect with other like minded souls.

I’m with you. Exchanged waves with an FJ Cruiser yesterday āœŒšŸ¼
I’m not saying to ā€œnotā€ wave back- but man, I can’t do the Jeep thing anymore. I kid you not, there’s a least 10 Jeeps in every parking lot here and I see at least 5 on each and every short drive I make. You get worn out watching for hands up at every stoplight.

Yesterday I dropped my kiddo off at swim lessons (a trip that’s 1.5 miles one way) and 6 people waved along the way. I need a break.
