Discount Tire Turned Me Down

Has anyone else had trouble getting tires mounted on your Bronco? I ordered my tires from @discounttires like I always do.

They said they couldn’t mount them over my orange trim rings with tearing them up and they couldn’t get the rings off.

I was under the impression that tire shops could mount tires right over these without removal. Is this correct? Do I have to pay huge $ for tires at the dealer?

At least they warned you. Some shops tear them up, others seem to not be bothered by them.
Remove them yourself. They've already been removed once, should be easy

I was at DT 3 weeks ago for a screw in the tread. Went out to check on the bronco and noticed they had removed the trim rings for that wheel. I asked him why, and his answers was "didn't want to take a chance on scratching them".

Not all tire guys are created equal. We live between 2 DT locations, one is always quick and reliable and the guys are awesome with management that has been there for yrs. Im not sure why the other location is jinxed, but we've had 3 bad experiences there over the last 15yrs and won't go back. Management and staff is a revolving door

D/T dismounted my factory W/T wheels/tires without any issue. The factory tires were moved to another set of wheels. Remove your rings yourself.

I thought you could mount tires on SAS wheels with the trim rings on with no issues. Why are you saying they have to come off because of the color?

the duck head on the bead bar will hit the trim rings. I've used a couple styles of coates machines and I would NEVER mount or dismount with the rings on. Non starter.

You have to remove the beauty rings prior, they have been burned for a few and won't remove them any longer. I was talking to a gentleman that had his Raptor ring damaged and Discount had to buy the new one and they would not remove the other 3 . It is fairly simple to remove . My tool kit has the right Torx for it. One would expect that a tire dealer would know to remove the ring before installing a tire.

They mounted mine with the trim rings on, tore them up after I just refinished them. If you want yours in pristine condition remove before you go to.

I’m guessing DT has a pretty lose franchise system resulting in good ones and bad ones…not much different from local independents…good luck!

I ALWAYS remove the trim rings before having work preformed on my tires, I never thought to expect the tire shop to work around them or remove them...

Had the same experience with my Raptor: but DT removed the trim rings for me with no issue.
Haven't had to replace Bronco tires yet, but will remove the rings prior to going just to make things easier.
