Are the harnesses long enough that if I wanted to mount it roughly where the existing CHMSL is, if, you know, I made a bracket that would fit the light bracket here and just tossed the spare tire mount stuff. Would they reach with a decent sized tire mounted on the back - or are they pretty much cut to exactly fit that spare tire mount?

Well the harness in our kit goes to the spare tire. It might be long enough to keep going straight up about a foot but if not there is also a 3m extension cable included as well.

Yes and No.

Yes you need to disconnect the light (easy). No you don't need to remove it from the mounting bracket. Yes you do need to remove the spare tire mounting bracket (which is what holds your spare tire on).

The mounting bracket uses 2 of the 3 bolts that hold the spare on.

Not a big thing. I've done it before with a reverse kit to access my spare.

I thought I clicked the one that gives me your bracket? And I have a set of chase light brackets that mount to the spare tire bracket that extend above the spare that I plan on mounting the light to. And I had the DD chase lights previously. So I already have the harness that plugs in between the taillights.

Gotcha. Yeah our bracket is a U-Bracket which you'll need in addition to a spare tire bracket.

I know I'm going to be doing some wiring. I mean it's only a 4 way plug. Most likely ground, brake, white, and chase. I have the power from the reverse and brake light coming off the DD harness previously that plugs into the tail light harness. And the switched power from the aux switches. Most likely I'll send a second switched source to the rear to control the chase lights. Biggest thing I feel I'll be worried about is that crossover between the 2 towers from my slinky fab chase light brackets. I don't think the 10" will bridge side to side. So guess I'll be firing up the powder coat machine after I make a flat piece of metal to attach the light bracket to.
