I see a couple of bolts on the crash bar ends. Why are they there? I also see crash bar videos where the bars are removed. Tire clearance I see. What other purpose do the bars have?

What I believe you’re seeing is the crash bar mounts, the bolts would hold the crash bar extension which is not included with a SAS model.
The mounts are what people cut off to fit larger tires like 37” and above.

What you described is exactly correct. They’re crash bars.

Up to ≈33” tires, the crash bars are installed from the factory. They provide an extra protection from (primarily) front-overlap impact crashes.

For the Sasquatch package (≈35” tires), those crash bars are removed and not included with the vehicle due to tire clearance.

I don't know why those two bolts are there from the factory. If I remember correctly they even have loctite on them. They are too short to be part of an install of an aftermarket crash bar install (such as the one I went with: https://www.boss4x4.com/product-p/4wp8-62213.htm ), and you need 4 of them anyways...I ended up at the dealer part counter purchasing 4 OEM bolts to get mine installed.

Yes. On road & off road (moderate, level 5 trails usually though with boulders/shelf's that pretty much max out stock SAS clearance/articulation) no rubbing.
