My '22 BD, 4 dr, 2.3 MT, has 12,500 miles on it and this has now happened 3 times; twice on a dirt road and once on a paved . When accelerating from 2nd to 3rd, it starts bucking, almost like I'm stomping on the gas pedal and releasing it in quick succession. Only lasts a couple of seconds and then it smooths out and I shift into 3rd. Anybody else have this issue, or know what can be causing it, and I know it's not my foot?! Thanks.

This has been happening to my wife's '21 Base 2.3. She says it's happening more frequently. I'm planning on taking to dealership soon. I'll let you know what they say.

I really appreciate that, and it's a 165 mile drive to my dealership, so it's very kind of you to let me know! Hope that your wife's Bronco is fixed quickly and it's any easy repair!

Can you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of your local Ford dealer? I would like to take a look at your acceleration concerns on my end.

My new 23 WT does this as well from time to time. Happened three times now and I have 1600 miles on it. When I do my first oil change I’ll have the dealer check this along with some other electronic issues going on. I never spent this much on a vehicle and I’ve never in life had issues with any vehicle with under 30k miles but do with this one. So far, the bronco has a few things that need looking at. Mostly electric gremlins causing issues with the camera and sensors, also this bucking thing and a small vibration in the steering wheel at any speed.

Sorry that you're having the same issue, among others, so hope that you get them all straightened out!

Mine does it too. Haven’t been able to figure out the exact condition to replicate on demand. Only happens in 1st or 2nd gear. 7mt. It has been doing it since new, 27k now.

I've had something similar occur, only a few times, in Sport mode when starting from a stop in first gear. It bucks a few times on the start and then smooths out. Want to say it mainly occurred when I applied additional throttle initially and then let off a bit.

I assume it's something to do with the "smart" throttle/engine management software, because definitely I was not misapplying the clutch. For me it's minor and low occurrence enough that I haven't pursued doing anything about it.

My son in law's 21 ranger 2.3 had those symptoms for months. Dealer kept telling them they couldn't recreate it. In early December of 2022 it became undriveable. The dealership wasn't very open about what the problem was, other than it was tranny related. AND they couldn't fix it.
They finally got it back on Friday 2-16-2024! I still don't know ALL the details(SIL is a computer nerd who works in cyber security. Not mechanically inclined. I have to remind them to rotate their tires even!) It took weeks, and me providing them w/info for escalating with Ford from this forum, but eventually they gave them a brand new exploder for a loaner... :)

Well, maybe it just wants to give a BroncRider a realistic Bronc ride!

Glad he got it back, and hope the exploder didn't explode!

I've been driving for over 50 years, with quite a few manuals, so I also know that it's not me. Maybe the "smart" software is not too smart!

My 6 cylinder experiences uneven acceleration at times mostly at lower speeds. Not quite to the level of “bucking”. I’d be interested in hearing if your dealer finds anything.

Sounds like the transmission issues my Daughter's Focus had. Yes that was the DPS6 dual-clutch transmission but the similarity is eerie.
