Bottle Jack Lifting Points?

Hi everyone,

Planning to do my first oil change/tire rotation today and was going to use my bottle jack to lift up each corner.

However, it seems that recommended jacking points for the rear is the axle but I don't have a bottle jack adapter for the axle. Would I be okay to place the bottle jack at the rear lifting points in the diagram below instead (in front of the rear control arms)?

Anywhere along the frame works fine but you have to lift it pretty high when lifting along the frame because of the rear axle droop. An adapter to catch the rear axle is helpful and not super expensive.

Had a feeling that axle droop might be the limiting factor

My bottle jack has a max height of almost 21" so I'll try it out tonight to see if it's enough. Worst case scenario I'll use the scissor jack on the axle and get an adapter for next time. Thanks!

Considering that it is your first oil change of many…..just go to harbor freight during a sale and pickup 2 low profile floor jacks. They pay for themselves within the first 6 oil changes/tire rotation …….and much safer than any bottle jack I would guess.

Considering that it is your first oil change of many…..just go to harbor freight during a sale and pickup 2 low profile floor jacks. They pay for themselves within the first 6 oil changes/tire rotation …….and much safer than any bottle jack I would guess.

Just got rid of my old floor jacks recently because they wouldn't go up high enough to lift the Bronco, so I was hoping the bottle jack would be enough for just the tire rotation (not planning on going under the car while it's lifted).

About to try it out in a few minutes so I guess I'll see how it goes.

Just finished everything up and it all went smoothly.

Used this bottle jack + a 2x4 piece of wood on top (until I get a better stabilizer plate) and it easily lifted up each corner for the tire rotation.

In regards to the oil change, I was planning on swapping out the plug for the Ronin but the flow is pretty manageable when you watch some videos to see how and where it'll pour out, so I ended up keeping the OEM plug. It's also the safest option too in terms of risking it leak/back out over time compared to any of the aftermarket ones that just rely on detents/friction.

My Bronco sits high enough I can slide under it to change oil. If you re a little tight on clearance trying that get you some scrap 2x8 or 2x10 and cut a 45 taper on one end. (Can stack 2 together). Then drive Bronco on top, set parking brake, chock back tire and Go for It!!

Easy, Peasy. And cheap !

Im actually shopping for a floor jack. Anybody know the reach needed for stock non sas and for sas to change a tire in the garage? (Or have a floor jack that is getting the job done for this). Thanks!

Can you throw a bottle jack under the lower control arm for lifting the front tires? With a stand under the frame obv

Its just to use a bottle jack on the frame you need like 21+inches of lift and sometimes still a block on top of that, I'd like to use a low profile bottle jack.

If you don't need the tires off the ground, ramps are safer and easier to use. I got some RhinoGear off Amazon but they seem to be gone now. They are like this, though:

Looking to get the wheel off the ground for a tire change. Obv can use the axle for the rear, but I believe at the front-most frame location you need quite a bit of lift to get the front wheel off the ground (SAS), more than a 18in bottle jack can do.

Looking to do this (yes its a Jeep but its the idea):

I figure if I shape a piece of 2x4 with holes for the strut bolts, I can lift just the wheel up and get it off. Or maybe fill that recess to the left and position the jack contact closer to the wheel (and away from the strut cutout)
