Hello Everyone,

I'm considering the Bilstein 6100 for a small 1.5" lift. Question: Does this set up provide more ground clearance? If not, what exactly is being lifted?

Thank you!

Any suspension lift will lift anything mounted to it. So for the Bronco, whatever lift numbers are being applied will apply to the chassis, body, drivetrain, etc.

The rear axle however will stay at its current clearance level between diff and ground, shock brackets and ground, etc. the only way to lift those is with a larger tire size (or portals)

That's a good choice, the 6100s have the best travel, and a 1.5" spring lift is small enough that you won't have a lot more uptravel than downtravel.

Keeping those travel amounts close to equal improves articulation for overlanding. Better than a big suspension lift that reduces your downtravel too much.

A mild spring upgrade is good for offroading, to stay out of the bumpstops.

If you decide to increase tire size, then focus on body lift to create additional clearance for larger tires.

Stock SAS with some extra weight. I'll add a photo to the first post as well.

I have a SAS 2.7l with a stock plastic bumper. Put a BAMF bumper and winch so added 140lbs and some skid plates. Typical SAS is about 1.5 rake 38.5 front and 40 rear...mine was 2.5 after added weight. 38.5 front and 41 rear with 6100s at 5 clip front and 6 in rear. Too much rake for me and drove well but not excellent. Just had Les Schwab drop rear to lowest clip and kept front at 5. 39 front and 40 rear....drives and looks so much better. Funny how lowering rear to stock raised front .5 just shifting weight with less rake. I will be keeping 35s so super happy with the 6100s and kept stock UCAs and had it aligned.

I just installed the 6112’s. After some trial and error I used circlip #1, the lowest, which gave me 3/4” lift all around. 38.5” front, 39.5” rear for a 1” rake. I put them on for two reasons. First, I’m going to Moab the is year and with no firm date of recall repair, three of my oem Bilsteins leaking, I didn’t want any trouble along the way. Second was to regain lost lift due to added winch, rock rails, heavier spare and rear bumper, etc, etc.

Sorry, but I don’t seem to have a decent side shot. One thing I will add is Bilstein’s instructions indicate lift amounts for the various clip positions. I started w/ position 3 in the rear which gave me 1.5” instead of .7” listed. So back off they came and clip moved to #1. Perfect 3/4”. Front listed lift was same as actual. OEM shocks measured 1.9” in diameter. 6112’s - 2.6”. Quite a difference.

I think the 6112’s ride firmer than OEM, although three were leaking so who knows. I’m not a high speed desert runner, crawling around Moab is my style. Don’t overland. These fit the bill, price was reasonable. Overall, I’m happy.

I put on the 6100 with my non SAS badlands and it lifted similar to a SAS. Springs, UCA and everything else is stock. Off road it provided good articulation, nice ride and eliminated most rubbing on the fenders except for some pretty challenging bits in MOAB. The handling on road is actually amazing - no floating or no nose diving and great covering. I think the 6100 are a great economical upgrade and using the OEM springs you basically get a coilovers setup.

35's. Mickey Thompson Baja Boss - LOVE THEM. I also have zero off set so they poke out an extra 1.5 inches and looks more muscular.
