I got mine on sale form CJ Pony Parts and took it to an off road shop because I had some stuck bolts on my modular bumper

I was surprised when the mechanic advised he wouldn’t be able to install it because there was a bad weld angle which won’t allow a bolt to be placed in the hole

I had him put it on anyways with the missing bolt. I have since contacted CJ Pony parts.com customer service and asked them to send me a replacement because my bull guard should be correct.

5+ emails later they are stringing me along instead of just doing the right thing and sending me a non-defective one.

I’ve sent the order number twice, a video, a picture, a picture of the label on the box, etc. Every day it’s some new hoop to jump through. Why don’t they just have some customer service and fix the problem?

below is the picture of the bolt that won’t go in at the right angle.

Hmm.

The plate with the bolt holes can't be misaligned - it will only line up on the bumper one way. And all the photos show that bull bar having a really low clearance/aggressive angle like that. So if the holes line up - it's not a manufacturing defect.

And plenty of other people have this same bull bar. I do not, so I can't comment personally, but I don't think you got serial number 001. Hopefully someone with this same item can chime in and say what they did. Almost looks like you should be able to get the bolt wiggled in that hole with it off the bumper, then keeping the head flush on the bar mount bracket get it to thread into the bolt/bracket on the bumper. But I don't have one so I can't say for sure.

That said - I do agree, TOR should be able to help you out here. A shame they didn't, or at least haven't yet. I'm assuming there's nothing in the installation manual/video that addresses this? And there isn't a special bolt or other hardware for that one clearance point?

OP I am sorry that your experience has been a negative one.

You should have received a hardware kit which would have a short bolt in it meant to replace the factory bolt in your photo. Because our foam packaging encapsulates everything in the box it’s likely that the hardware kit was accidentally discarded with the packaging.

We pride ourselves on excellent customer service. I will look into this personally and be sure that the issue is taken care of. If it is in fact a defective unit we will send a replacement immediately. I promise that this is not a common customer experience with our products. We will do whatever it takes to make it right for you.

Unfortunately no. That bolt is just being used as demonstration for the photo CJ pony parts.com required. The other provided bolts are the same length and will not fit that one spot. I’ve also had my professional shop Off Road Warehouse Marietta, GA, advise me of this issue. Someone who welded it on a jig did so at an improper angle. Will CJ pony parts.com send me a non-defective replacement?

no bolt will ever fit there. My only option is to glue a bolt head for looks, but why should I do that.

Is the bolt bottoming out at that angle? If so, try putting the front bolts in first with no other bolts attached followed by the rest of them. That is what I had to do with mine due to mine being lineX.

I have a similar bar from JCR and those bolts were also a tight fit. Would it be possible maybe to remove the bar entirely and slide the bolts in first, line up with the holes then bolt it down?

To clarify it’s CJ Pony Parts that’s making it less than easy.

It’s not. It worked fine on the passenger side. The angle is welded much sharper on this side and won’t allow a bolt in, compromising the strength and looks.

I wish. It’s the angle of the weld on this side. It’s defective.

Understood, it’s always tougher to rectify this kind of issue indirectly but I promise you we will make this right for you.

To the best of my knowledge we’ve never run into this before.

I’d hate to ask you to do one more thing but can you please send me your name phone number and address either by DM here or to [email protected]?

I just want to be sure we are sending any replacement parts to the proper address.
