When at a stop, just put enough pressure on the brake pedal to keep you still. If you put excessive pressure on the brake pedal the ASS will activate. Less pressure will not activate it.....the engine will remain running.

I find that generally the amount of pressure needed to keep you stopped will engage it. However once it engages and you let off then reapply pressure the system won’t reengage.

I haven’t tried it with Auto Hold but I assume this would bypass it too.

I just don’t get the hate for for auto stop/start. It’s much less intrusive than just about any other auto stop/start system I’ve driven with.

Why the need to disable it?
Some of us don't care to have the lives of our engines or starters significantly shortened by excessive restarts.

The internet told them it was annoying.

Also they think the engine is from 1952 and will be ruined by constant start/stops, apparently

In my professional opinion the auto start/stop is bad on turbochargers due to when the engine stops the turbo stops getting its oil supply causing premature bearing damage because the turbo does not stop spinning immediately. But to each is their own, you bought it do what pleases you ! ;)
So what happens when you shut your vehicle off  ? I am sure that there is a temp sensor/ turbo timer of sorts that helps cool down the turbos if they had just been spun up before shutting down the motor automatically. I imagine most people don't race light to light to find out. YMMV

But pressing the button is free lol

I've just gotten into the habit of pressing the button everytime. It's second nature now just like turning traction control off when I had my mustang.

Turn vehicle on, hit button, put in gear and drive
Youre not a pilot by chance are you? Lol

You couldn't be any more wrong about it being useless. In stop and go traffic it can save up to 5% in fuel usage. Personally I live in small town Kansas so it's not super useful but I definitely understand I'm not the only driver out there. Have you ever been on the freeway in LA at rush hour? I have, and if I had to drive there every day there is no doubt in my mind that it would save me hundreds of dollars a year.

It's pretty easy to work around anyway, all I have to do is slightly releive pressure on the brake or move the steering wheel and it starts back up. I can see when the other stop light starts changing and already have my Bronco running before I need to take off.

My first car was a 1956 Ford, straight 6, 3 speed manual, one barrel carb, oil bath air cleaner, with a 6 (YES SIX) VOLT battery and starter system. Getting it to start reliably was nothing short of a miracle….. Didn’t have ASS, but I did use HAS (Hill Assist Start) many times.

There's a button to disable it already. You just have to remember to press it.

Just extend your index finger when you're reaching for the shifter to put it in gear. Problem solved. No cost to the consumer.
Press a button every time you drive or disable it forever….I’ll take forever.
