I recently installed an ASFIR trans skid plate on my 23 Badlands 2.7. Straight forward easy install but…. I’m wondering if I should find a way to get a second bolt on the trailing edge..?

They used to provide different styles bolts and washers. What you show in the pic would have a tendency to catch on rock and potentially damage the head. Is that hardware what they sent with the plate?

I'd recommend getting cross bar protection as well, they are easily crushed and hang lower than anything else in that area. (speaking from experience)

Mine came with hardware for both locations.

Give them a call they are very helpful and I have no doubt they will take care of you.

Here is a picture from their website

Forgot to mention, if you do order from them again search around for a discount code, or just call and ask them for a repeat customer discount. If I recall correctly they offered 15% off my second order.

One side of the Trans Skid will have a spacer to keep the plate level when installed.

Definitely call them then. The way you have it mounted is not good.

When I got my tranny plate from them I also got the cross member skids (as someone above noted) - they hang very low and mind have decent amount of rock rash. I also got the transfer case reinforcement bar. The latter mostly because it brought me over the free shipping limit. I also had found a 5 or 10% coupon.

Does the Asfir 2.7 tranny skid play nicely with the ford OEM engine and transfer case skid? Sounds/Looks like it does but just double checking from someone who installed.

Yes with the steel ones. I installed on a BD. I think you need to cut the plastic splash guard if you don't have steel skids. Their install video shows this.

I installed one on my Wildtrak after I added the sway bar disconnect. Mine had 4 bolts.

Yeah, that's not right, give them a shout. You should have four bolts with "pocket" washers. I have their full skid package on my HE and they were great to work with.

And as BroncoDymond88 pointed out, get the crossmember arm protectors. I installed everything before I hit my first trail and glad I did. The crossmember protectors show signs of big hits that would have made an impression on Ford's formed crossmembers. I doubt that I would have been able to add protection after the fact.

You should have gotten a threaded plate that inserts into the cross member to thread the second bolt into. Give them a call

So the threaded plate that goes in back corner - is it easy to put in place - my guess it needs to go in prior to placing the skid in place to bolt on … so put that in first as you start the install ??
