Apple iOS 26 and carplay

I really like the new Apple update. For those who have had problems connecting wirelessly this has fixed the issue for me. I had been only able to connect with a wire for the past few months. It is now working seamlessly.

I’ve had issues with Google Maps, similar to previous updates. Apple map works good but Google Maps gets lost and constantly trying to re route to road I know are not right.
only other new issue I’ve seen is the handling of audio exchange in CarPlay that pop up ads now take priority but cutting off the music and play whatever they are advertising instead

Apparently it allows two columns of apps on the main screen and maybe different backgrounds? I haven't tried those bells and whistles, but the occasional connection issues haven't gotten any better. :- (

The update has done nothing for me. Still slow connection at times or no sound and have to reset audio. All the glitter crap doesn’t mean a thing.

Not that many use it, but the Apple Maps navigation directions have been integrated like that for a while as well. I did notice that Google is now similarly integrated. Waze needs to follow suit next.

I’ve had the directions on the cluster for a few months prior to the update with Google Maps.

I just looked again and realized I was still in iOS 18 and can confirm — I’ve had those integrated directions as well. I’m now upgrading to iOS 26 to see what this buzz is all about.

The Google Maps integration to the instrument cluster navigation is a nice upgrade. Previously, it would only work with built-in Ford navigation and/or Apple Maps. Unfortunately, it does appear to still be a bit buggy; I've noticed that the turn-by-turn directions will become "stuck" at a previous step in the journey, and I have to exit the current navigation route and then restart to get the signaling working again. I hope that the 26.1 release will address this issue.

I'm very happy to see positive news on iOS 26 and CarPlay. I'm holding until mid/end of October before fully committing my iPhone 16 Pro to iOs 26, as I seem to be the small percent that has bugs.

Before iOS 26 (I was on iOS 17.x), Apple Maps turn by turn directions appeared on the instrument panel. But glad to know that Google Maps does now as well.

Same. I’ve been dealing with connection issues ands no sound from my left side speakers. I have to turn off the Bronco and open the door to reset.
